My girlfriend had cheated on me so I punched a brick wall, now that I look back on it I should have punched her.

I useally punch the ground or a brick wall to balance the mental pain with the physical. I'm pretty much depressed, frustated, sad and mad every day, mostly at the evening/night. I feel like all the pain you carry is mental so getting wounds, bleeding, breaking your knuckles will help to balance the pain which make atleast me feel better, and I guess for others too! :)

  • Swear a lot. It helps to calm you down, whereas punching things might actually get you more riled up.

I get destructive when I am angry also, I mean I will tear up my own things when I am really angry, better than tearing up people.

I used to kick the wall. It seemed like a good way of venting my anger and frustration, until I did it while wearing steel toe boots, made a large hole I had to explain to my roomates, and then had to pay for supplies and learn how to repair it before the landlord saw it. I don't kick the wall anymore.

I have a friend who punched walls, eventually he gave it up and got into parkour (also called free running, very athletic and challenging) for him that was a better way of burning of the energy that came with anger and stress. Anything that burns energy could work. He also swears that completely changing clothes can change your mood, esspecially if you get dressed up. It doesn't work for me, but maybe for you?

To get your anger out you should try doing something that you really love, and if that doesn't work out for you, you can punch something thick, yet soft. Like you bed's mattress.

I do this too, but beating up a pillow is a good alternative as the person above me suggested.

my boyfriend used to do that so, so i know its a hard abit to break, try to do something else with that anger, like work out, it will make you feel better... whatever it is thats making you angry, its not worth hurting yourself for.

You can try hitting a pillow as hard as you can instead to avoid hurting yourself or damaging the wall. My friend's sister used to have problems with her temper, and she was so mad once she punched a hole in the wall.........not fun....for her or the wall. lol.
