I obsess about appearance

i find myself obsessed with my appearance and i don't know why. i know i am a good looking girl, i've had boyfriends and lots of boys like me etc. i just feel like i have a hidden fear that i am ugly and i look for things wrong with myself to validate it. i want to stop obsessing and learn to just love myself but i don't know how. anyone else feel like this?

girl, everyone feels this way! i know i'm not ugly but i'm very into appearances & i compare myself to other girls all the time. & i always feel like the girls around me are much prettier than me. it's just natural for us i guess

As the old saying, going too far is as bad as not going far enough.
I feel it is normal that you obsess about your appearance, but don't give you too much pressure, sometimes you don't need to be too sensitive.

  • Do you think the only reason people like you is that you are pretty? Could that be why you obsess? Could you find other reasons for people to like you? That might help.

probably everyone feels like that at some time in their lives.

part of our culture doesn't let girls just be girls, everything is about how perfect you can be.

i suggest you do some google searches on the subject. i would suppose there's lots out there about this sort of thing.

do you remember recently seeing commercials on tv out dove (the beauty bar soap) running a program for exactly your issue. check it out.

i think we are all alike in the fact that we are most critical about ourselves. something for all of us to work on.

i doubt there are many boys who would bother waxing, shaving, bleaching, plucking, slathering makeup on, etc., but girls feel they have to. best wishes
