I never ate a peanut butter sandwich as a kid

I only recently had my first peanut butter and jelly sandwich when I was 28yrs. I started hearing all these stories about how everyone grew up on peanut butter & jelly sandwiches and thought it might be strange that I never had one.

If you grew up in Canada or the USA in a western family, that is pretty unusual. I can't speak for other countries since that's not my experience.
If your parents imigrated to Canada and kept their customs, including cooking, I can see how it could happen very easily.

I didn't until 28 either!! It was the frozen Smuckers Uncrustables that got me hooked. They're so good!!

I had my first pb&j when i was like 17, and i live in the US-went to public school and everything. I was so creeped out by the jelly, i wouldn't even go near the stuff. then i was out on my own and really starving so i ate one. I really like them now, but they have to be prepared only a certain way.
its not normal to society's standards, but normal for me... but i don't think im normal...

When I was a kid (I'm 27) they used to offer pbnj at lunch as an alternative to the main lunch.

I can't say I'd ever had one either, but i'm european, so that might be the issue.

  • Yes I think that is unusual. Ask your parents why.

    • No, I hate peanut butter and could never stand to eat it. So I have lived my whole 30 years never eating it.

I never ate that either my mom thought it was too simple , my mom was a very traditional women so every night at the dinner table their would be EVERYONE sitting with candles lit up . I never actually tasted a sandwich until age 10 . We never ate fast-food if we went out for dinner we would go eat in a restaurant .
