I need help,, i went from unemployed to two job offers

well for people that dont know me (Shuggy-Chan) I was laid off from my HVAC job last fall and until recently (last week) was unemployed. This took a big hit on my saving and i actually got the same job back at my old employer, since demand for the summer picked up.

im of mixed feeling on working here again, since

#1 they laid me off
#2 they have poor communitcation between the ranks
#3 and i feel the company is too top heavy (too many useless managers)

and during my time unemployed i had an interview (HVAC) at a company near my mom (about hour north) and i like the company, better work environment, better pay, and is a better area to live (more to do in off time)

they really liked me , but went this someone they felt more experianced, I have four year experiacne as an installer helper and have a 2 year in HVAC. the job was for a HVAC service tech (would require me to do more trouble shooting, on call, etc)

some ive been working for my old company for about week and the manager that i interveiwed me at the other company e-mailed me asking if i was still looking for work, so i asked him what exactly he had in mind

and he said this

" Well since you asked! I have a position here for a technician trainee/install helper. I have a good install crew right now. One of the two men is new here and

I initially pegged him as a mechanic. But, circumstances changed and he has been installing on a regular basis. Where does that leave you? I would like to have you come in and start training on preventive maintenance work and also use you on installs from time to time. My goal would be to turn you into a well rounded

Technician. Let me know what you think."

^^^ this seems like a good deal, but i morally feel bad if i work a week and then quit, and i'd most likey burn that bridge with my old company. But they already laid me off once, sooooo. IDK im torn and trying to decide, what do you think?

Please comment below!!! thanks ^_^

PS. by taking the second job i'd have to move in with my mom, leaving my dad how i live and work with currently, and leave him with all the house and pet chores to deal with =/

stick with your job for now, you can leave after they train you 5
leave now, fuck those guys and do of this new job 15
see if the guy would be willing to wait a few months to take you 2
potato salad (other, please by all mean comment below) 10

I really want to vote for potato salad...I'm not gonna vote, I'm just gonna comment.

How likely is it that the job will wind up again when demand goes down? If they did it once, why not again? If this is likely, then the new offer might be best to take.

I'd feel weird about ditching a job for another job, too. You want to make sure the new offer is a guaranteed thing before potentially fucking yourself up.

I say take the new job since I remember you talking about your old one and how it was sucky pretty much.

Since most of it is better too then take it; take whatcha can get. You'll get a new experience with it too. :)

i know, im leaning toward taking it i got a update from him, ill copy his email

      Hello Ian,

Take as much time as you need to figure out what you want to do. We are busy but not at critical mass. The sooner I could get you training the better for both of us.

I do understand your dilemma and I don’t want to put any undue pressure on you to make a snap decision. Think it over and we can try to work this out.

Shuggah-sashimi, think of them as girls, would you wanna go back to the bitch that dumped you and only called you for a booty call? Hell ya! For a week, then... Hell no! I'm outta here!!! ^.~

Seriously, I think something new is always better, even if it doesn't work out in the end, you are moving forward, or at least in another direction and that will lead you to something else. You learn new things, you acquire new skills and knowledge, meet new people, probably develop a different relationship with mom and dad - change is always good! Oh, and I love you! ;D

Hey Shugeeeee! I'm a Fridgie too! Fuck those jerks at the place you're at, they left you high and dry and will probably do it again. That's not to say the new company won't as it's a pretty seasonal trade but if they want to train you as a tech then you have to do what's best for you. Leave on good terms just tell them there's a good opportunity for you with better job security and I'm sure they'll understand or just tell them your moving far away to help your mum so you won't be able to work there anymore.

    Good luck!

Thank you, i need to talk it over with my mom and G-mom still , but i did here from the guy and she said that he is will to wait a lil and doesnt what to have me under and undue preesure to make a snap decision, so i think i at this moment try giving my current employer 3 or 4 week notice and leaving, thay way i can appease all parties if i can manage it

Hey, Shugs! You don't owe anything to your current employer. They laid you off and only took you back because of their situation, not out of any loyalty to you. I don't see any harm in adopting the same attitude they took, and looking after your own interests.

The manager from the other company is obviously interested (where I work, it's rare to get a call-back and when you do, it's because someone has really seen something in you).

Aside from anything to do with your living arrangements, I'd seriously consider the other job. And, in a recession, job security is worth more than most things.

i agree, and maybe even if i wasnt fully ready for tech work, it seem like he was willing to have me as a future prospect and have me split time on install and tech work, so i got the impression he wanted me on the team. thanks for the comment

Shuggy! Your grammar is improving! YAY!

Applause for you, Shuggy. Applause for you. :)

Anyway, take the new job and quit the one that laid you off. I remember you were so depressed without a job. Fuck them. You can do better than that, Shuggy. Your opportunity is here, take advantage of it.

yeah i need to talk it over with my other memebers of the family but im seriously considering the change, but the change would me major cause i see less of my dad and the pets, my mom sorta isolates my dad so it be akward to see him less, since he is my one constant in my life
