I need a binder

I've told my mum, and she thinks that it might make me more at risk/give me cancer. I'm 80% sure that that isn't true, but how do I convince her? We've been to the doctors and they are referring me to the gender specialists in my area, but that could take anywhere from 18 weeks to 6 months, and even then I'm not sure she will be convinced. Help!

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

From the little I've heard, I don't think binding makes you get cancer. However, it can cause back problems and injuries to your ribs if you're not careful.

It can definitely give you back problems (talking from experience bleh) but it's not bad for you at all. Its actually usually more healthy for you to wear a binder, for your mental health anyways. You should wait for a gender specialist but in the mean time you can wear sports bras. Before I got a binder, I would wear two sports bras everyday, it wasn't perfect but it was certainty better than nothing.
