I must be an odd college kid

I go to college and am finishing my first year. I have a 3.92 gpa and am planning on getting straight A's again this semester. I don't see school as something to be afraid of, rather, I study on my own time.

I spend my weekends playing World of Warcraft (rarely), reading books at the library / coffee shops, playing music, and doing hallucinogens / pot

I spend my weekdays going to class and working out at the gym. I read books that aren't assigned to me just because I'm interested in philsophy.

I'm currently a Math major and going towards philosophy as a minor.

Although I drink and go to bars from time to time, I find myself opting to stay inside. Most girls I talk to I will have sex with but not date because they are afraid to be intelligent.

Is my life balanced? Does the lack of a girlfriend and playing of video games make me a nerd? Should I even subscribe to society's view of what I should be doing?

Sounds like a pretty normal college student to me, Girls, Bars, Videogames, Studying. Live it up, then deal with the real world, you're doing well.

Yeah dude, that's totally cool. A lot of college students don't actually enjoy partying/drinking, they just do it because everyone else does

You are not strange in my world. WoW is great and so is reading. However, I agree with Jim above: Thinking women avoid you because you're intelligent is extremely self-serving and probably untrue.

"Most girls I talk to I will have sex with..." and you're worried about what exactly? When I was a freshman in college I couldn't get a girl to give me the time of day, and you have the audacity to suggest that you might not be normal? F#ck you!! How's this for a dilemma? 'She won't acknowledge that I am in the same room with her - is this perhaps because I'm a total social outcast?' Go get laid or something you poor spoiled baby, and enjoy many years of youth and normality.

lol chunky your comment made me laugh, but your right. This guys complaining about getting good grades, doing drugs, and meanwhile having sex with random women.

Live a day in my shitty life and you wont be complaining anymore.

You don't have to subscribe to this, but it's always interesting to hear. I'm a college student myself, and contrary to your life, I do not drink, or smoke. I find myself staying in rather than going out with friends, though I was always out with friends in high school. I don't know if the problem is that the girls are afraid of being intelligent, but rather you're afraid of commitment? I do not mean to assume you are, but it would make sense. It seems you're content with your life, and the fact that you're doubting yourself for sharing this story confirms it. Who cares if you're out and about and on top of your classes? If anything, that's what you wanna be.

Blaming an imaginary "fear to be intelligent" as the casue of your lack of success with women is pretty self-serving, don't you think?
You should look for another cause, something you can change. You must recognize that the path you're on is not going to be of real value to you in the long run -- or else you wouldn't be seeking validation from strangers.
No matter how much pot you smoke, eventually you're going to have to grow up, and college is going to be one of the best places to develop a social life with quality people you will ever have access to.
