I'm the only person who can spell correctly

Is it just me or am I the only english speaking person left in the work that can spell correctly? Even my so-called-educated friends make the simplest spelling and grammatical errors and some of them are teachers.

It's really not that hard.

Is it normal to think this?

maybe we should type everything in word first so we can spell check it?

haha 'pont' = point* not 'pont' as in the french word for bridge.

I think the pont being made is more important than the spelling.

Also I think a lot of people write as if they were speaking in order to make up for the meaning lost from the lack of non-verbal ques when writing.

for example: "Spelling is so important we should never spell anything wrong or use innappropriate grammar"
    VS

"Spelling is SOOOOOOOOOOO important we should NEVER spell ANYTHING wrong or use innappropriate grammar.... you bunch of douche bags!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D"

I appreciate that you care about those details though. It's nice that you love the language. (thats not sarcasm).

Ha ha you don't even make sense. English is with a capital E as well, so no you are not one of the people who can spell or one that is grammatically correct.

well it is not knowledge my friend i to make mistakes we al make mistakes, the brain is tricky did you know if i were type every in thsi messege incoractly you wuold raed it corerctly anyawys becasue your mind is so used to seeing it the correct way, yes you notice the mistakes but in your mind when you read it to yourself it reads the same you know with the letters they used what they were going to spell, don't you go and put yourself above everyone else like that, i know this Hindu teacher who moved here two years ago and is professor at some local college on American literature, if you think your so smart go up against him in a spelling bee see what happens.

Yeah, this bugs me too. I always feel the need to correct it. Even my best friend's work. Also, if the spelling of words is incorrect, I always make sure they know how to spell it. My friends call me a walking dictionary because my vocabulary is so high. But yeah, there are worse things that happen in the world. We need to concentrate in them.

I'm glad some of you get where I'm coming from, typos and minor errors don't bother me - we all make mistakes as some of you have pointed out I made some myself. It's basic errors that annoy me, such as "no" for "know", "loose" for "lose", "they're/their/there" etc.

Thanks for the "faggot" and "asscake" comments too, may your careers in academia be long and happy ones.

The occasional typo doesn't bother me too much, anyone can make a mistake now and then. But it's annoying when people (especially on the internet) seem to deliberately spell the words wrong. Or they just don't know how to write. All caps in a text, 100 exclamation marks after a sentence and constant typical mistakes like "their" instead of "they're" or "to" instead of "too" also makes it hard for me to take that text seriously.

I hate it too. It drives me insane. I mean we spend ever year of school learning English. That is about 12 years and people still cannot get it right. Ahhh!

I think that too. Like, you have all the time in the world to look over your comment... It would drive me crazy if I saw a typo but I usually don't put the last period in my comments like now

^ agreed. Oh and FYI, English needs to be capitalized and the phrase "in the work" doesn't really make sense.

Well said! There should also be a hyphen between 'English' and 'speaking' (English-speaking), and there is no need for that hphen between 'called' and 'educated'.
