I'm sick of her being so anxious around people.

My girlfriend tries really hard to be popular and cool for some reason, and that's totally fine. What annoys me though, is that she'll complain to people that i'm shy and anxious around people when it's not true at all barely just to feel less dorky. Is it normal to say someone else has your attributes just to feel more popular?

maybe she's just trying to keep other girls away from you by making you look bad. either that, or she is using you as an ice-breaker to connect with people.

It's normal to SAY that, as a lot of people are like your girlifriend actually. But just because it's common doesn't mean it's normal for her to do it. Talk to her about it, tell her it really bothers you. Do it gently though, she probably doesn't mean any harm, she's just insecure.

She's projecting her anxieties and insecurities onto you, not cool. Although honestly I think women tend to usually that bullshit to other women, but I guess they do it to guys too. I'm sure some guys to it to women and other guys as well. Regardless, I hate it when people do that shit. Maybe you ought to confront her?

If you can't handle her being anxious. Than give her to some nice guy who can handle her and her anxiety.

Not so much a command but she may need to get
help for her anxiety and her insecurities cause
it will reflect onto you which it seems to be
        happening.
