My Dad tells me this MLK guy is the reason all the blacks get welfare money and free rent payments. I know he got shot but so have a lot of whites. My parents have always hated blacks so I never got to know any growing up. So getting welfare and free rent is cause to give working blacks a paid holiday? This is normal? I don't understand.
What does welfare have to do with MLK day? Take your head out of your ass. Go into a black neighborhood and talk like that.
Nice try with your liberal fuzzy logic. Whites make up the largest part of welfare recipients only because they are the majority of the population. Proportionately however, blacks are far and beyond the biggest welfare recipients. That is to say, a far larger percentage of the black population is on welfare than is the percentage of whites on welfare in the white population.
It's a holiday to honor a man who just wanted us all to be together as brothers and sisters. That we would finally be as one people. That's why we celebrate it.

Sorry ,but your parents have it all wrong.Life was really hard back then. Unless you were a rich straight white man.Mlk was trying to get people to come together so we could do better, be happier and he was killed for it. I hate to say it,but sometimes I feel we are regressing back to the way we were instead of moving forward.
