I'm not racist, or sexist i'm....appearist?

Is it normal that I'm obsessed with clothes? Not just my own, but sometimes I find myself looking at other peoples clothes and if it's someone i don't know, i find myself making judgements of them based on what they're wearing. I, myself have to go through my appearance once or twice before entering a public place for fear that someone will judge me before even meeting me. I think I'm a nice girl, I'm not racist, sexist etc... I just don't confront people with bad clothing or hair. Is it normal?

Definitely shallow. Who cares what someone else chooses to wear?

Normal psychological phenomenon. Beautiful people are percieved as having better social traits...whether or not that is true is another matter. As for clothes, to some extent some people define themselves through the style of clothes that they wear. For instance, people who dress like hipsters are more likely to make friends with hipsters simply because their clothes reflect other interests. Their might also be a classist element to this thing of yours...
Personally I do find myself disliking people who are not attractive physically. I justify disliking them for the clothes they wear, way they smell etc. etc. as being a sign od self-direspect or disprespect for others (WE HAVE TO LOOK AT YOU). Disliking people because they are ugly is a lot slimier though I expect it had a lot to do with not wanting to feel ugly yourself or be percieved by third parties as somehow "inferior."

This is far too normal. And shallow. I disagree with anarchy-is-glory, stop being so judgemental! Please...
Judgemental people emphaise people's downfalls to distract other's from their own.

I never said it was good, confronting people for dressing different from you is not good.
if she can keep it by her self and not confronting people, it would be better.
Thats why i said as long as it does not affect others.

i guess i did not put it well haha.

Shallow. I can understand not wanting to talk to someone who looks like a crazy, homeless crack head, but to not talk to someone because they have bad hair is just mean. Sorry.

Its really shallow to judge people based on what they wear or to think that people are judging you based on what you wear. But seeing as we live in a consumer driven materialistic society Im not surprised by this. Its shocking how many people think this way and it is silly.

In my line of work i have come across very rich people and you would never guess how rich they are since they dress simply, and know that they have nothing to prove. I find that people on the lower end of the wealth scale are the ones who are obsessed over material possessions because they feel the need to prove they are something that they are not.
