I'm in love with fluttershy from mlp, iin?

I'm a 21 y/o male, and I can't help it, but I love Fluttershy from the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I didn't know she or the show existed until around June of 2012, when I guess I heard about it and decided to watch a few episodes with an open mind. Before I knew it, I was on a marathon. I noticed from the very beginning that I liked Fluttershy more than the other characters, and over time it became kind of an infatuation / attraction, which snowballed from there.

Let me say that I don't mean this in a creepy sexual lust kind of way. I'm attracted first and foremost to her personality. Her shy, gentle, caring, loving nature really appeals to me. I also think she has beautiful eyes, and I like the soft colors of her pink mane/tail and yellow coat. Even her voice is soothing and pretty. I think she would be a better wife than pretty much any girl I've ever met before. I can't ever imagine her cheating or being hurtful. She's always considerate and kind, and while not perfect, I love even her flaws. I believe she would make a commendable mother as well with her nurturing, empathetic ways.

I've always felt a strange intense desire/feeling to protect someone close to me. Like, I'd gladly fight, say, a vicious wolf with nothing but my bare hands, if it meant I could protect them. I think this desire to protect is one aspect of my personality which complements her vulnerabilities. I just want to love and protect her, and spend time with her. Anything I could do to help or comfort her and make her happy.

Because of these things, I love her, even though she is a pony. I think of her more as a human in a pony's body, and her being in that body does not matter to me at all. (No, I *do not* find real horses/ponies attractive!) I love her just the way she is, and I wouldn't want to change her, not even into a human, because that's not the true Fluttershy. The thought of being married to her and living together at her cottage just seems so peaceful and heavenly. I could easily cuddle her for hours, enjoying the warmth of her soft coat and mane, and telling her the many reasons I love her. Simply put, she makes me feel joy and happiness inside. Fluttershy embodies many of the things I look for in a girl, especially kindness, innocence, gentleness, and purity. She's a sweetheart.

I didn't lay this post out all that well, but I'm sure you get the idea by now. I love Fluttershy, but not for some kind of sexual fettish, I truly love her for her personality and who she is. It's weird to say, since she's not a human, but I find her beautiful, too. My intentions are noble. I even wrote a love poem about her once... ._. I think about her often, wishing I could escape this place to go live there with her.

I can't really say these feelings are 'normal' myself, but perhaps justifiable or understandable? I'll see what you guys think anyway.

Please, no hate just because you don't like the show; I'm not a rabid brony trying to make you like it, too. Nor am I an unemployed basement dwelling manchild still living with parents, so spare me. Scoffing isn't constructive feedback.

Multiple posts concerning incest or consuming your own semen currently have higher 'normal' ratings, and you call *this* post out?

I admit it isn't really 'normal,' but at least I have legitimate reasons. A lot of people around here are just perverted.

Just because you think it's normal doesn't mean it is. That's self served bias. The goal of this website is to get someone elses opinion on what's considered normal.

And don't attach any other meaning to normal other than rate of occurrence. normal doesn't mean good, bad, excellent, awful, perverted, or anything else but how often something occurs.

And I wouldn't pay too much attention to the percentages on posts. especially when, like this one, they have very few voters. with only 11 total voters the percentage isn't going to show how the majority feel about it.

And finally... my friend tried to tell me semen tasted really good... and apparently my research also tells me it's even good FOR you. soooo gross. why people?

Thanks but I didn't need to be educated on what the word "normal" means. I understand perfectly.

Now this site my have voted my topic as slightly abnormal, but then again this site is filled with horny teens.

I think society as a whole would agree with my topic, however, I'm not going to discuss that I prefer to maintain my anonymity.

And what is this you are talking about semen, that seemed out of place as to the rest of your little comment.

Its an interesting character to love but all the same its normal. What you have is a "Waifu". A lot of people develop feelings for cartoon characters. I too have a waifu haha.

What's fascinating is how similar your thoughts are to mine.
The love for the characters personality and habits. And the desire to protect that love even if it means going through hell. It's all extremely similar to how i feel about my character.

What i tend to find is that people like you and I develop the schema of a perfect person you would want to be with and come across a character, such as fluttershy, who has the traits that fit that schema. We fall in love with this character just like we would for a human if they had these traits. And like you said, you havn't met anyone who could hold a light to the perfection of Fluttershy yet. Fear not though. One day you will bump into a girl who is perfect for you and you will fall in love with her like you did Fluttershy. And trust me... The real thing will be even better.

I think this shows that you have a very loving, caring, and compassionate personality to you though. Doesn't make you creepy or anything like that. People who know nothing of compassion and love will tell you bullshit like that.

I disagree, everything you just wrote was extremely creepy.

But at least I understand why you reacted to my comment so crassly. You share his fetish. Lol.

      • Apparently you don't, because I tried to make it pretty clear that I don't feel this way over some weird fetish. If that was the case, why would I only have the feelings toward 1 of the many characters? I could care less about any of the rest of them as far as the love related feelings are concerned.

I wrote 'a whole page' to elaborate why. If I just said, "I love Fluttershy, I want to marry her, IIN? *drool*" then I would expect this story to have virtually no 'normal' votes. That was the point of explaining myself thoroughly. The least you could do before leaving comments was hear me out.

I see the Cross you're wearing and your profile description. I think you of anyone should understand the qualities I see and love in her, because the Bible and God would support many of them, too. In fact, I especially dislike one of the other characters who is constantly arrogant and often times obnoxious, inconsiderate, or hurtful because she basically has many of the opposite personality traits of Fluttershy.

I believe Fluttershy exhibits many aspects of a virtuous wife. Some verses from Proverbs 31:

10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

In the show's story, she is literally the element of Kindness.

Those are some nice verses, I'm more perplexed as to why you equate these ?ponies? to actual women.

I understand that you appreciate the general qualities of character shown by these characters.

But it just seemed a bit overboard. That said it's something I don't understand because I don't associate cartoons with real life.

You know, I'd like to date Cinderella, but I can't. I'm not going to spend my life looking for a woman who is like Cinderella, because there might not be one.

Basically what I'm telling you is, I hope you aren't holding out for that perfect mate that is like "fluttershy." And maybe a little too much attachment to said character is unhealthy.

But my apologies if I offended you.

            -
          • I'm not offended, just trying to explain. It's kind of hard to express. I find her easy to equate to a human being, because they aren't just animals in the context of the show.

They have friends. They hold jobs. They go to school. They own property. They speak English. They marry. They even have some loose form of government and military. They're people in pony bodies. Not just a grazing ranch animal. That's part of the reason why I'm finding it more easy to be attached. From my point of view, she's more or less an 'actual woman' but embodied in a pony character. If I could tangibly be there, her being in that body would not off-put my feelings at all. Most of them are drawn to be cute looking anyway. It's weird, I know.

It probably is overboard. But, I still have the feelings and wish to be there anyway. I posted this story because I wondered how many people would think I was crazy, and how many might understand why I feel this way, when properly explained.

I'm not really 'holding out' for an exact replica of Fluttershy, but I know and am saddened by the idea of how hard it would be to find a girl who is like her. Actual people are rarely so virtuous and pleasant...

I rather hope the OP is still here. It's been 4 years after all.

That aside, you aren't alone, if that helps form your definition of "normal." (Normalcy is a fickle thing anyways, so quite honestly, screw normalcy.) The following story was trending on FimFiction for a few days after its release. It was very well-received despite just barely being a pony fanfic. Were it not for passing mentions to the events of season 1 episodes 1-2, it could probably pass itself off as original fiction.

Anyways, the story's theme is the importance that we give to non-real things and entities. If a brony is working at a job and refrains himself from mouthing off to the customer because "it's what Fluttershy would do," then MLP has just made the world a better place. Likewise, "Moon Horse" in the story below helped "Quiet Boy" through some rough times.

So without further ado, I present to you Quiet Boy and Moon Horse by Horizon. (And if reading isn't your thing, there's two audio versions over on YouTube linked in the story description.)

I know exactly how you feel. Except I female (lesbian) I have a job, ambitions, my own home (knock on wood) and have been told I’m pretty and smart, so like you I’m no “basement dweller “ stereotype.

I don’t lust after horses either haha, Bestiality creeps me out and big animals actually scare me.

But what I wouldn’t give to date/marry Fluttershy! Her warm, compassionate soul makes my heart melt! I know it’s childish, but I often imagine being a pony and meeting her. We’d become friends, and as time goes by I’d confess my feelings to her. Being shy myself, I’m sure I’d get tounge tied but Fluttershy would understand of course. After I pour out my heart, the mare of my dreams would stare, wide eyed and blushing...she slowly admits she would like to try a relationship with me, since it means so much to me! Finding the courage, I inch closer to her, and kiss her gently on the forehead and we snuggle up together. I can feel her pounding heart and gaze deep into her beautiful aquamarine eyes.

Why must you be a fictional character, flutter my love??😞

I think that the real question to be asked here is, “How many people have fallen for someone who isn’t real?”  I’m pretty sure that the majority, if not all, of us have fallen in love with a fictional character at one point or another, whether it be live-action or a cartoon, and there’s nothing wrong with that.  Much like you, I’ve also had a crush on Fluttershy for quite a while now and I even wrote a poem centering around her about a year or so ago where I brought up the idea of marrying her if she was a real-life character.  What I really fell in love with at first was her personality.  The fact that she was such a kind-hearted, soft-spoken, overall pleasant character was what first drew me to her.  She contains the exact same qualities that I feel would make for an incredible wife/mother.  At the same time, though, she’s grown to be a much stronger character from where she started out.  The past few seasons have seen her taking on a much more authoritative role, whether it be pushing her younger brother towards a committed path, making sure that her animal sanctuary is built to her standards, or taking action to find a cure when a friend falls ill to a rare and fatal infirmity.  It also goes without saying that she’s just as beautiful on the outside as she is on the inside with her soft, flowing mane and tail, gentle eyes, and very easily the most beautiful voice out of any other character in the show, speaking and singing.  As far as I’m concerned, a character should be judged by their personality/nature, not by whatever form they may take.  Something that really bugs me is when outsiders make these false claims that people who love ponies from the show are committing bestiality.  No.  No they are not.  Being in love with a pony from the show is an Interspecies Romance, which is completely different.  Bestiality is relations between a human and an animal.  This animal can’t communicate in the same way a person can, does not have the same level of intelligence as a human, and has no soul.  Interspecies Relationships/Romances, on the other hand, are relations between 2 members of entirely different species who are still able to communicate similarly, are of equal intelligence, and are both sentient beings.  The media is full of examples like this: Roger and Jessica Rabbit from Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Lawrence and Holo from Spice And Wolf, Melman and Gloria from Madagascar, God only knows how many examples from Adventure Time, and even one of my favorite stories ever with The Little Mermaid all fall under this category.  And let’s not forget Spike and Rarity, which has been teased on the show countless times before even though the creators say that nothing’s ever going to come of it.  My point in all this, everyone is guilty of falling in love with a fictional character at some point in their lifetime, but that’s nothing to be ashamed about.  Like who you like.  As long as it doesn’t hurt anyone else or you’re not forcing your opinions down other people’s throats, it’s fine.

It is absolutely normal friend, As i'm an Aussie 19 yr old from NSW and i cant help but love MLP, my favorite pony is Fluttershy and its just the fact that shes so "Kind" and caring that we respect her for being the gentlest and free minded pony we know and love. I have watched the full series about 5 times now almost once every term and i started loving MLP ever since i watched a few animations on Youtube about MLP, after the animations i thought to myself "I wonder what the actual show would be like", So i watched a few and i was instantly hooked. and as soon as i saw Fluttershy about how spirited she was and how cute her shyness is i was further hooked to the show.

I had the same encounter with the show the more i watched it the more I liked it I'm a broney and have watched the series 2 times over,

i also have the same feelings about fluttershy wanting to protect her and all it seems weird at first being in love with a character from a children's cartoon but as I reed more posts like this one it seems to be a common thing among people.
it makes me feel more secure knowing that I'm not a weirdo for liking fluttershy and that I'm not alone.

    Perfectly normal.
To be in love with a fictional character suggests that you have in fact not yet found a girl in reality whom you can trust, love and be in a relationship with. Fluttershy is kind, shy and cute. Everything most guy's love in a girl, and so she is the perfect manifestation for the girl you desire in life, yet have not met...

How do you get over her? It is Nye impossible to suddenly just lose interest in her if your case is as you explain. However, to let go of some of the pain involved in knowing she doesn't actually exist, I suggest writing MLP FIM fanfiction. There is a main site dedicated to this and I am part of it... Or you could just go girlfriend hunting on dating websites.

Why should you trust my advise?
    Because 1: I too am a boy,
And 2: I too am in love with Fluttershy... For several years now...

It's a shame that a lot of people want nothing but to sexualize and / or "ship" the pony characters. Some of the fan-fiction that people write is just complete and utter classless smut...I hate that the R34 community seems to be especially active in the MLP fan-base.
