I'm in love with an imaginary girl.

So I dreamt this extremely realistic dream awhile back about a girl that I met (And I never met this girl IRL.). We started going out and I fell in love with her and then we got together, then I woke up. I thought for a few minutes that it was for real and got very dissapointed when I realised that it was just a dream. I still have feelings for this imaginary girl and it's killing me! Is this normal by any means? I never heard of this before and I would appreciate if someone could comment if him/her had a similar dream like this.

BTW sorry for spelling mistakes, English isn't my first language.

I'd imagine it's pretty common. It's certainly happened to me. Crazy thing is, it was years ago and I still remember what she looked like. If I see people who look like her, I always stare.

However, for a time, it was pretty hard to realise that I could never be with her because she wasn't real. I did dream about her more than once, though, so maybe you'll get to see yours again too.

This is exactly what I'm going through. One night I started day dreaming that my perfect dream girl was hanging out with me. It felt so real and still does. Since I'm religious I've been praying to god I will meet some one exact like her. Then when I realize she is imaginary I become so depressed. I just pray she is real.

A lot of people are in love with someone imaginary. They adhere nothing but positive qualities to someone just because that person is attractive. It's how love at first sight works.

But if they get in a relationship with that person, they usually notice that 'the love of their life' is as interesting as drying laundy.

Okay, maybe I put things a little pessimistic, but I feel that it's the case for a lot of people (mostly teenagers)

  • The only type of girl a guy can love...That was a joke, before all of you get all emotional and rage the thumbs down button.

    • Hey, we already have someone to be over emotional. Don't be shy, step up and claim your reward of too emotional to understand a joke.

I had a dream similar to your's and this is what I can remember from my dream and it's weird that I can remember it in such detail

So there we were, all my friends had girlfriends and I didn't, so it was a shame to see them all making out. Then suddenly, a girl with straight brown hair, perfect complexions and devilish looks. She was an angel of beauty. She noticed me sitting alone and came and sat next to me. We started talking for a while and after what could of been 2 or 3 hours, we soon fell in love. When I asked her the important question of, "Will you go out with me?", she said yes with happiness. We soon started making out and I stared into her twinkling eyes, mesmerized and she stared back transfixed on mine. Sadly, my dream ended as we walked, hand in hand walking down a quiet street with the sun setting.

Side-note: This might have something to do with my girlfriend and I breaking up about a month ago, although I don't understand why, as it didn't really work at all and after a month we broke up.

Love at first sight, story of my life. I find it hard to believe you haven't even met this person in real life though.

On another note, I have (on more than one occasion in the course of my life) had these amazing dreams where I'm in love with this woman, sex or closeness whatever it is i just never saw her face (usually happens right before i wake).

Hope i find this girl with no face someday, then again I'm cursed to a life of servitude where i can only see myself being relieved by death

You should see the movie The good night ... Has Martin Freeman, Gwyneth Paltrow. It's a good movie. The guy in the movie goes through what you are talking about.

Maybe she's real, and it's god's way of encouraging you to get with her when you finally meet her.

I've had many dreams where i fall i'm love with this unknown person, whether i'm in a relationship or not. It was always a different guy though... And the feelings i had only lasted a week at the most.

Andy Warhol knew a lot about this kind of thing:

"fantasy love is much better than reality love. Never doing it is very exciting. The most exciting attractions are between two opposites that never met"
"people should fall in love with their eyes closed"
“People's fantasies are what give them problems. If you didn't have fantasies you wouldn't have problems because you'd just take whatever was there"
"everyone winds up kissing the wrong person goodnight"

i like to imagine a perfect real life senario about the girl i love the most (probably dosnt have the same feelings about me) and yet every time i dream about here my love only gets stronger and i start thinking about her more.

Sometimes, when I see a beautiful girl, I do not want to get to know her, because it would imply learning all of her bad sites. So I just imagine her to be perfect, instead. In this case I can think about my imagination of her, not about the real (probably not that perfect) her. I don't know if that makes me an asshole, but that's what I do from time to time.

It's not exactly like in your story, but there are some parallels and similarities.
