I'm getting pissed at all these shows that appraise things!!

Antiques Roadshow was cool back when it was less popular and practically nobody watched it. Then, it exploded in popularity and now there's a ton of shows that show the value of old and vintage finds. Even newer stuff....

The problem is, now it's like everyone thinks their crap is worth a bajillion dollars and it's become harder and harder to find good bargains. It used to be fun to go to yard sales but now everyone prices their total junk as if it's valuable, or if it is something of value, it's overpriced.

Yard sales used to be a way to get rid of your unwanted stuff and maybe make a bit of money doing it. Now it's like a business, sell your complete junk and try to retire from it.

Hardly a bargain to be found these days, thanks to these shows!!

IIN? Have you noticed this?

I liked Antiques Roadshow, but I liked the old version. In the old version they told you how much it was worth, but now they don't! The show is ruined!

There was one that used to come on BBC America, where the there would be a team of people who would go through these peoples attics to try to find something worth of value to auction off. That was a lovely show.

Exactly. Antique shows suck. People now automatically assume their items are valuable because they're old items even if the item is broken or just doesnt work anymore. I refuse to pay 200 dollars for an old 90s house fan or 390 for a generator thats missing peices. I know from experience that telling them that their stuff is worth less then what they sell it for is a good way to get kicked out of a yard sale.

Finding ridiculous shit in yard sales is such an awesome pastime. I think it's been mostly relegated to eBay, though.

I don't know how it goes down in other countries but Antiques Roadshow has always been more about the people than antiques here in England. What you're looking for is someone who clearly thinks they're sitting on a rare treasure worth tens of thousands and the inevitable "reveal" when it's worth twenty quid. The look on the faces is priceless.

Life is often so disappointing that I'd like to see more of that mirrored on TV. Like some version of Jersey Shore where the "stars" are told "You think this is popular but really you're a talentless crapbag who is only on TV so we can ridicule you" or a Big Brother type programme which, unbeknown to the contestants, never gets filmed and is never shown on TV. The only bit they show is them leaving the house to find the truth.

I LOVE the Toyota story, that was great. The other ones are just *meh*....funny, but not as funny as the Toyota one. That had me in stitches when I first heard of it.
