I'm extremely terrified of spiders!

I have this huge fear of spiders since I was a little girl but I think it has become a fobia and I wish to know how I could lose it.
It takes me time to fall asleep at night because I fear a spider could crawl on me.. I find myself looking around sometimes to see if there is one near. I don't know what to do anymore. Can somebody tell me what I could do to solve this please?..

I check for spiders every night before I go to bed, and literally won't sleep unless I check every where.

Dear friend, I’m afraid of spiders too. So I made an Android application to help me overcome the fear of spiders by a technique in behavior therapy used to treat anxiety disorders calls “Exposure therapy”. I have realized that it is not easy to overcome the fear of spiders, but I'm using this application daily and it gradually helps me to cure Arachnophobia. You can check my application on this link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hulidroid.overcomethefearofspiders
Please feel free to contact me on developer’s email if you’ve any trouble when using this application. I’ll keep my app updated by your helpful feedbacks. Thank you and sorry for my bad English :)

They should be cast into the burning fires of Mount Doom, in the land of Mordor where the shadows lie...

I don't mind them outside. Inside is another story. I don't drink a leftover soda from the night before because I think one may have gotten in it. ALSO!, I woke up this morning with my eyelid sore, red and swollen. It can't be a sty cuz I would have felt it coming on. Spider bite? Eeekkkk!

I'm scared of spiders. Strangely, the small ones have the worst effect on me when, with tarantula's, I can hold them no bother. It's weird

I know what u mean because I used to be mega-horrified of insects. Just the thought of them sent shivers down my spine. Now I can pick up an insect and look right at it. It can't do anything to stop me. I agree with above posts. Many spiders don't bite. You're probably just afraid of how 'alien' they are, right? They jerk around, and their little spider brains seem to operate 50 times as fast as ours do. Just let it crawl around on your hand (it will try to get away) and you'll see that there's nothing to be afraid of. Watch them weaving webs with a magnifying glass. They're just living their little spider lives.

i agree with you i get scared of the thought of them and when i'm sleep and have a dream about them i strip my bed trying to see if any are there. I try to think of one of three things:

1)Try to think of someone you know and see if you can call that person.

2)Try to remember the numbers in your phone or what kind of ring tone you have on your phone and sing it

3)Sing a favorite song of yours and try to remember the music video in your head like Kings of leon: use sombody ((that's a good song))

    Sometimes that helps me
    hope that helps!!

well i'm also afraid of spiders, and the best thing i can think of is to conquer you're feer. find a non-poisonous, non-threatening looking spider and let it crawl around in your hand for a while. that may sound terrifying, but just think you can put it down at any time. you'll be amazed how much this can help.
