I'm extremely jealous of people who get to travel around the world?

I live in the US and have only been to one other state aside from the one I live in and it was not my cup of tea. My dream ever since I was a young child, was to travel the world. I notice that everyone around me is traveling around the world each day. My best friend has been to 12 countries, my boyfriend has been to 20, my brother has been to two, my cousin to 7, my other friends have all been to at least 5 and most of my coworkers have been to 2 or 3. I don't know how they do it and most are younger than 30. I work a part time job right now because I'm seriously ill at the moment but even a few years back when I had more money, I was never able to afford much and it seemed no one was able to travel with me during the time I wanted to.

My ex boyfriend and I were supposed to visit England but he ran into debt and we had to put it off.

My friend then invited me to Germany to see her university and stay with her but then a family member of mine got sick and I had to stay home.

I then invited a friend of mine to visit England and they got invited to go to Switzerland with their cousin the exact month I wanted to go..

I don't know if I'll ever get to travel. All these people traveled so young and have already seen more than I'll probably ever see and it's my dream. I just get so upset when I see FB statuses of people leaving the country. I even have a friend from college who visits a new country every 4 months and takes off three weeks from her part time job and my boyfriend's cousin doesn't even work and got out of college a year ago and is traveling to another country with money from her Mother.

I'm so ill at the moment and just want to get better but even if I'm better, how will I ever leave the US? By the time I get back my health, I'll have to finish my studies and then find a job so I can save up. Then all my friends will be married or busy with life and they probably wouldn't want to see England for the 10th time. I just want to travel, sigh.

Oh and my boyfriend doesn't have the money either because he works part time and is starting his Master's degree.

IIN?

Heck yes, I'd be jealous too 81
Heck yes, but I wouldn't be jealous because I traveled a lot 16
Nope, I wouldn't be jealous and you shouldn't be 9

I reckon being in a country like the United States - is a bonus! The vast array of states within driving distance. Why not explore the US?

I agree. Not that being in Canada is any less wondrous but I was driving through the states once and between New York, Vermont and New Hampshire I saw a side of the states that I never thought existed. I swear when I saw Vermont it nearly stole my breath away, it looks like a fucking windows screensaver, which is a sad comparison perhaps but the idea was that it was surreal. Rolling hills and sunshine as far as the eye can see... Okay I'll shut up about it.

Seriously though if travel is what you want to do. You will find a way if you really want it. You might have to make big sacrifices though. I like the idea of starting small though.

What state do you live in currently?

      • I live in NJ, the reputation isn't good, but southern NJ is actually not bad at all, and the beach is quite nice. I was just there this past weekend and the ocean water was beautiful.

Vermont is also beautiful, been skiing there.

          Cool.

Hopefully when you get your health back you can get a full time job and get some vacation time.

Or, more long term, start thinking if there's a job out there for you that involves travel. One thing at a time though, I suppose.

          Feel better soon.

          • I'm actually pretty healthy, that profile picture isn't me.

But thank you just the same.

          • That's right! I remember we chatted about it. Only the strong survive! Although sometimes the douchiest seem to do alright also...

              Yes sir. Cowabunga dude!

I saw enough douchebags this past weekend to clean out all the coochies of the porn industry.

  • All Wyoming has going for us is Yellowstone and isolation! I agree, I am very jealous of travelers.

    • But more importantly, how are the toilet stores? Around me they just can't seem to get my size right.

      • They simply cannot accommodate those luscious man boobies of yours? What a shame! I do not know, there is not a ton of shopping really.

Sounds like Facebook is the problem of your jealousy. I deleted my account for that very reason (plus the police didn't like any of my posts, so they forced me to take it down). Social media is creating these problems.

I'm in the same boat, but my own family took a trip to Europe less one family member...me. So I know how it feels. totally normal. Delete Facebook and it might resolve the issue.
