I'm embarrassed about exercising in public

Here's a bit of irony for you:

I want to start running a few miles each day, but I find it really hard to get out and just do it.

It's not because of the exercise, but the thought of running around where everyone can see me. Especially since it's been a long time since the last time I exercised (walked/jogged about 6 miles, four to five days a week).

The first few weeks I can only run very small distances before being out of breath. Also there's the whole body image thing.

So if I had a long stretch of road all to myself, I would run like the wind. But sadly I can only choose between the school's lawn where football teams are practicing at all times, or the streets which is worse.

Totally normal I feel the same way like a "real runner" will just be happening to drive by and think "man she has it all wrong"...but here's the thing most people driving by or who might see you are most likely not paying attention OR thinking that they wish they were out running and trying...I love seeing overweight people out walking or running it's like they're out there improving themselves...so the moral of my story is JUST DO IT!!!!!

Totally normal, but you will feel good about yourself if you just do it and you will stop feeling embarassed after a very short time, I gurantee it. Also the people around you are too involved In thier own problems to care about how you look exercising. Good luck

Totally normal. Can you believe this carnage they've done to our body images? Damn. I've never been happier than when I was camping and there were no mirrors!

Go out running, but go out when there are less people around but in safe areas. And you know what? If people do notice you, they're thinking "Aww, I should go for a run." They're really only thinking about themselves.

    Good luck!

Listen just stick that damn ipod in your ears , blast your best tune and go for a good run. You gonna burn calories, but fat and do a heart (cardio) workout as well, the person that's gonna be endurant is you. what's this problem with other peoples point of view? seriously who cares? unless you suffer from agoraphobia. In all honesty it's the best feeling in the world.
Another thing you running out of breath because your muscles are full of lactic acids when you run and your glycogen level is down. The more you run the more endurance you'll gain my dear. in order for you to be more energenic get some carbs before you go for your run, it's fuel for your muscles, get an oat meal 1 hr prior to that exercise and get a carbohydrate drink while you running to replenish the muscles empty of carbs. And be happy c'mon

are u a male or female?

  • Try asking a friend come with you, having an exercise buddy makes it easier for me.

Nobody will care how you look doing it. If you have a bad body they'll just say haha fatty and walk away nothing more and they'll forget about you 2 minutes later. Just do it:)
