I'm depressed over life and death..

The past few weeks i've been looking deep into life after death and come to the conclusion there isn't one. Where logic is just a persons sense of reality and not reality itself, most peoples logic makes them beleive there is no life after death, cause come on, religion is skepticism, right? Nevertheless without being an atheist, i'm just really depressed over it..anybody else feel this way?

Joeyanne: Religion does the exact opposite, in my opinion. Remember, don't EVER preach.

biomate: Closing your eyes doesn't mean nobody can see you. Face your fears, cause they aren't real.

Listen man. You're going to face many, many roadblocks in life that are going to take away your will to continue. They will make you disable you from feeling, progressing, and living. But, you are special. 2/3 people who already commented will NEVER face the same problem you are facing because they are hiding behind their own illusions, which is fine (unless the preach or harm you). Think of it this way, you've been "not living" for far longer than you've been "living". This world you were brought into is an amazing, AMAZING, work of art. Build your momentum buddy; do things that take time to increase in quality. Like hobbies, relationships, skills, and everything else! How much percussion in this world can you create? You will be known far longer than you will be alive. You can be ANYTHING you want to be (ok maybe not a bible humper :P), and you will be. Don't get discouraged. After all, you're only testing yourself, because it's you who's presenting yourself with these ideas. You know all the answers to every test in life, they're just stored somewhere else, and you gotta find it! YOU HAVE THE KEY! Let life envelope you, don't try to explain the unexplainables, only respect and understand them. Love yourself, love others. Forgive yourself, forgive others.

What counts until we die? YOU TELL ME! You make the rules! Do something YOU think is fun. You. Are. GOD! But don't be a malevolent, sadistic, egotistical, self-aggrandizing Catholic one.

Whatever is coming to use at the end of our term can't be that bad. After all, you've already met your maker, haven't you? If you haven't, look into the mirror. NEVER lie to yourself. Always be honest and true to yourself, you will figure out why.

    DONT EVER GIVE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    you can do it

I have often felt like this. I also then feel bad because if this is it if there is nothing after this then why do some people have to toile and suffer all their days, think of refugees of orphans of 3rd world nations, disinfranchised masses. Why have them suffer and work so hard to have nothing. What is the point of anything? I don't know. Even with this thinking I am really frightened to die. Because however pointless this may seem or however bad at least I know what it is and I am here. It freaks me out to no end to think one day I will cease to be. If you find any answers let me know!

    Here's a qoute.
We are born with two incurable illnesses, Life from which we will die and Hope in which we think that death may not be the end.

Don't be afraid to die. Remember what life was like before you were born? Well of course not, but death is just like that (from and atheist perspective). Accept your mortality. Maybe then you will be able to live. Wow that was kinda cliche.

We all have to die sometime. People have different beliefs in what happens after death. I, for one, believe that when you're dead, you're basically sleeping forever, so there is nothing really to worry about. But that's just my opinion. Don't worry about death, just live your life to the fullest while you can.

Why not be agnostic or something?
Religion and life after death causes way too much war and conflict, I'd rather live my life happily and just see what happens when I die.
And if there is a God, then I praise him for creating me, if there isn't, then well I'll just see what happens.

Agreed. Live in the moment. That way you'll enjoy life instead of wasting your life worrying that one day you'll stop living. Doesn't make sense, does it? Now go out there and live life!

I don't understand your comment, "religion is skepticism." That seems to require some unconventional definitions of the terms.
Anyway, suppose it is true that consciousness ends with death (not an unreasonable position).
Does that make life LESS precious?
It's not really important that you die or when. What counts, if anything, is what you do until then. Should we be better for having known you at all?

I don't believe in life after death, which is really depressing (I'm a person of science). But the thing that comforts me is that we'll no longer have conscious thought to be disappointed that it's the end.
So live life and just be in awe that your beating heart means you're alive.

i think what they mean is that religion keeps us sane, and is an excuse for what we do not know. i've learned that recently, and am still happily catholic. i may not be sure what lies ahead after i die, but i do believe i'll be with god.

its normal to be depressed over it, and the sad truth is, you cant do anything about it. circle of life hun.

Thats odd I thought about both life and death and came to the conclusion that theres no actual difference. I won't go into details however.

No offense, but HOW THE HELL do you know if there is or isnt? Are you God? No.

Well, No matter what religions preach about life after death, I am sure everyone knows in the back of their minds that "I" cease to exist after death. That's why it freaks everyone out. Otherwise, people would have treated it as a sleep before waking up into new life.....

Nevertheless, getting depressed over the temporariness of life and all that we hold dear is NORMAL. It shows you are taking a step back and thinking about the big picture.

It pinches though.....meanwhile, get back to your life of work, family and football....

See for me will never believe that there isn't life after death, just because it would be losing all hope. The life I'm living right now is nothing, I just go day by day wake up, eat, school, work, eat, bed. Nothing all that exciting. But I just have to believe that there is something more out there then just this life I'm living. As well as for my loved ones that have died, I can't believe that they would just die, they are out there somewhere happy and at peace. It's not so much a belief in god as it is a belief in that there is more than just life that we are just a millisecond in the time we are in this universe.

Jane M, is completely right and there are some religions that describe what she is explaining.

most east asian religions describe higher dimensions, everything being interconnected and even reincarnation.

these religions actually overlap with quantum physics, other words science!

pretty much the main believe is in order to escape the cycle of reincarnation is to reach enlightenment (understanding who you truly are and the universe or what i like to call it the omniverse...)

through meditation, yoga or even better by this short-cut:

with this you should even beable to perceive more than Jane... lolz

Well,I myself don't feel that way,but I respect your feelings and thoughts.

I personally feel that there is a life after death. But that doesn't necessarily have ANYTHING to do with Religion. At the base of what I theorize is that people are energies. From what I know,I see all energy from movement in matter,to light,as being energy that is recycled in some way.The light hits the plants and they grow from it.Every action deserves a reaction type of thing. The use of moving energy, matter, gases etc. all work to keep the life cycle going. So to me it is not so hard to believe that our energy is recycled in some way,and goes back from where it came to find another use.

I believe that is what happens and is the basic idea.

I accept .But what you may need is to not analyze Religion so much.Maybe that is what works for you.Either way I am not trying to impose any ideal or concept.Just sharing with you my views and maybe you can come to a conclusion that satisfies your curiosities intellectually so that you don't stop yourself from evolving and coming to your full potentials in life, spiritually or otherwise.

Because honestly,I feel it is quite obvious there is something interconnecting us all. It's not a bunch of hocus pocus that we can't see. It's really just analyzing what we have and understanding our place as humans in the cycle of existence; The very cycle of life.

Have you tried thinking about death when it actually comes instead of worrying about it your whole life?

It's not a big problem, because whatever you believe, find something that will make you happy, comfortable, and deal with it when the time comes.

This is how I think of my life.

    I wake up.
    Go to school.
    Go to work.
    Get home.
    Take a shower.
    Go to bed.
    Wake up.

This is just how I view my life, and I'm happy with it. If you're not making money, what are you doing? Think of it this way, if I keep going the way I'm going, I'll be able to retire when I'm 35.
