I'm 27 and dating a girl who is 16. We like each other and there is a lot of chemistry. Age almost seems irrelevant but I would never force her to do anything she didn't want to do especially sex. I feel as long as were just hanging out then technically were not breaking the law.
In many European countries, 16 is the age of consent. I don't know how it is in the US. But if you're both OK with that and you're not taking advantage of your age or experience to trick her into something she wouldn't be comfortable with, I don't see any problem.
It's not such a big age gap when you are both 5 or 10 years down the track (21 / 32 or 26 / 37). And if you are in a country or state where 16 is the age of consent it's no big deal at all. Good luck.

I am just curious, how does it work? As a 27 year old, I've had pupils of that age (16). They just weren't on the same level as I, neither intellectually nor "stage-in-life"-wise. Is that not the case for the two of you?
If you continue this, you will influence her development in a non equal way and therefore effectively have a father and daughter relationship. Which is not healthy to combine with this kind of intimacy. She needs friends of her own age.

Well as long as it's entirely legal and you have enough in common, I'd say it's okay.

You're right enough that dating isn't breaking any law, but I don't think I could really call that normal, not in a modern Western culture anyway. But hey, that doesn't mean it can't work out well, as long as you respect her.
