I find identifying my emotions difficult enough as it is, but with him it's something else.
I don't know whether I'm attracted to him in a friendship way/as a father figure/romantic.

Its normal to have romantic feelings for a close friend, been there myself. I knew this girl for a while, and we got close. At one point, i started having those thoughts. Like you i wasnt sure.eventually, I realized my feelings were romantic, but when i finally figured it out, she had a boyfriend. They are married now. Chances are, if you think you may want to be "more" with them, you probably do.
Try to show that youre interested. Maybe he will pick it up. (Of course if hes like me, he may not depending on how subtle you are)
Its possible he may even be a guy who has a hard time asking women out, like I am.
If possible maybe try to ask him if hes ever thought of you in that Way. You might be surprised.
Dont let him get away.
