I'm always nervous when it comes to social interactions

Ever since i could remember, i've always been extremely nervous when i have to talk to someone i dont know. Like i had this one job interview and i screwed up so bad because i was so nervous, i even mumbled some words. I'm also scared of asking people something i don't know, because i feel stupid when doing so.

It's really wierd because im a really outgoing and loud person when i'm with my friends. I just cant deal with job interviews, ordering food, asking people for directions etc...

Well...practice, practice, practice! Life kind of forces you to interact with people whether you like it or not, so eventually you'll get good at it; it's just going to suck and be really painful and awkward for you at first.

You might want to counterweight your weakness by joining a public speaking group, or going to open mics and performing onstage. Whatever you do...don't use alcohol

No offence, and this is for your own good... people who feel stronger when they are with a group of people are usually characterized by:
    and a weak personality
they compensate for their weak personality by acting loud, as in hiding it.... a group usually empowers because there is a feeling of belonging and group members can stand up and agree on your views.
I reckon your problem is that you are too used to doing things in group and with another person. I recommend that you spend less time with your group and start exploring life on your own. Have a friend stay with you in the beginning, because the level of stress can be overwhelming and it is always nice to have a friend who supports u.
Trust me, all you need is the first time, and then you'll do it on your own.
    I hope this helps.
    take care and good luck.

Im awkward that way too. Im totally insane and fun when I'm with friends, but as soon as i have to (for example) pay something in a store I go all red and don't know what to say. this obviously worsens when I have a job or school interview because the pressure is higher. It sucks, and i have yet to overcome this.

  • One question that may help you.

Is it better to be alone than scared? Honestly, I would rather take the chance and try to have people in my life that like me. However, if the fear is too much, there is always the option to have seven cats at the age of sixty.

In your case though, if you don't ask you get the same answer from a no answer. If you do ask, you may get a good answer or something you would want more than you thought before.

    Is it worth to ask?
