I'm 21 and haven't accomplished anything ! iin?

"Do something with your life"!
This is what I often hear and feel disappointed I haven't done anything amazing. Wondering what others have done with their life? What should I do with mine?

  • In life you must create your own accomplishments. Its as simple as to start doing something. Whether it will be sucessful is unknown until you try. In some ways I have acomplished nothing but in other ways I have done a lot of things most people never do. Financially and career wise I have nothing, but I have done quite a bit of things.

    • Thanks for this!! ☺ Good points!
Yeah I've tried things in the past, just didn't turn out to be my forte.

I'm 22 and I feel the same. It's extremely disappointing for me, because I have a sibling who seems to be successful at everything she's done.

Do not lose hope :) I'm sure that if the two of us keep trying, there is something that we will accomplish. Is there anything you enjoy doing? Writing? Music? Math? I'm sure if you worked at something you enjoy, you may turn it into success.

    • Thanks for your great explanation!! :)
Naww yea it sucks that some people are just born with inert abilities and others not. Iv always been especially interested in Hip Hop, but I'm a skinny white girl and I'd say that if I joined a class id look some what out of place. That along with some fears that I do have that limit me such as " Will the people be nice?" "Will I make a fool of my self and become laughed at?"
And I do get anxiety in social situations like a class setting at times...

"Skinny, white girl." Iggy, a female rapper, is popular so don't let that stop you. If you have what it takes and you work at it, who knows? :)

And, I'll be honest, there will always be assholes and people that will treat you like shit, but use that to motivate you, not quit. I, myself, want to get into the writing and film business. I know there are people who are not going to like my work. Probably gonna get laughed at as well, but I always tell myself that I'm a bigger failure if I don't try.

I guess it depends on how much you want it, but I like to think you can achieve anything if you put in the work. No. It's not going to be easy, but how much is it worth? And if you don't get it, at least you can say you put forth the effort.

You're only 21, no one expects you to have invented life-changing technology or something. As long as you're on the road to success, I think you're doing just fine.

sure, no one expects you to have done anything by 21 but secretly if youre not an olympic gold medalist at 16 or become a doctor at 20 and finding the cure for some horris desease, or even be able to play some super complex concerto at the age of six, by all means society implies that there is nothing special about you.

If everyone was special, no one would be special.

True, but people can be special in different ways.

Exactly. If everyone was a Olympic gold medalist, then it wouldn't be special anymore. People are all unique.

When I was 21, my accomplishments in life looked like this:

    1) I was in college and doing well at it.

    2) I was no longer a virgin.

    3) I had avoided any scrapes with the law.

Accomplishments in the sense of "accomplishments," those came later in life: career, family, developing my talents and interests. At 21 I was just taking my initial steps in that direction, going to classes, working at summer jobs, hanging out with friends, and fortunately not throwing any roadblocks in front of myself.

    • Nice explanation ☺ My main focuse at the moment is earning enough money to support my self ! So it leaves little time for play if you understand lol

What's your hurry? Most people don't accomplish a damn thing in all of theirs, so what makes you believe you should have done anything in a measly 21 years?

    • I just know a lot of people personally that have done more than me.

You're realizing this at 21 when majority do so at ~24 if not later/never. So realizing this early is in itself an accomplishment. What are your interests? Any dreams?

    • Realising this 3 years earlier isn't that much earlier lol. My true dream would be to explore and travel but I don't think that's an accomplishment, more like a hobby. I doubt it would happen too since it requires a fortune of money to travel .

I'd suggest finding something you're interested in or good at, and take classes or look for a job relating to that. And maybe pick up a hobby or do things for good causes.

Why was this downvoted? I understand sometimes this shit is easier said than done, those were just suggestions. I myself have struggled to get a job, I've tried but I'm autistic and society discriminates. Anyway I was just trying to help. Damn, some people overreact.
