I do not have a gun but i believe people should have the right to own whatever they want. Except maybe nuclear bombs. You shouldnt be able to own nuclear bombs,

I agree that they're should be limitations on weapon ownership, as there are some weapons that privates citizens should not have, tanks, rocket launchers, ect...

However that being said I am a huge supporter of the right to bear arms, An unarmed population is an enslaved population.

Yeah, the only really tricky thing is where do you draw the line when it comes to a small group amassing a crapton of weaponry like in Waco TX in the 90s. They werent really doing anything wrong but to our government it had the appearance of being a private militia which was getting too strong and going beyond constitutional rights. Then as we all know it became a clusterfuck.

where to draw the line indeed, one of the most important questions in everything, and also the hardest to answer.

Really? I think everyone should have their own nuclear bomb. You know, for self defence.

I don't think people should randomly be able to buy a gun, in my country you have to go through a long process to be able to legally own a gun which is why we don't have school shootings and people randomly killing each other all the time. Thank goodness I'm not American.

Offend me all you want, the fact that I don't want to get killed doesn't have to mean that I don't think guns are "cool", I probably play more FPS games than you do

i don't believe violence like that are caused by an abundance of guns, anyone who wants to kill that badly will, whether its guns, home made explosives, or just running your car through a crowd. And besides gun laws only affect law abiding citizens, someone willing to commit mass murder isn't going to feel bothered to acquire guns the legal way.

What's so hard to understand about the fact that the harder it is to own a gun, the less guns will be owned and fewer people will be killed by guns

            -
          • That is not true you idiot. The killers and criminals will ALWAYS have guns. No matter what the gun laws. So lets take them from the Innocent people so its easier for them to kill. Your mindset is the dumbest thing in this world.

            Comment Hidden ( show )
          • Because as the previous commenter said gun laws only affect law abiding citizens. If someone wants to go on a killing spree or what have you they are going to do it how ever they can either by obtaining guns illegally or by other means like home made bombs, knifes, or a vehicle for that matter. The guns aren't the problem it's the individual themselves. If you take notice of the mass shootings here in America a lot of them are committed in gun free zones or states with the strictest gun laws. Further proving the point that stricter gun control doesn't do shit. People have every right to bear arms and protect themselves. Like I said if someone wants to kill or hurt others they are going to and I have every right to protect myself.

Well all I can say is that I'm very glad I live in Australia with tough gun laws and not in the USA where any idiot can claim the "right to bear arms" and get access to deadly weapons.

I respectfully disagree. The thoughts you have shared in theory seem logical. Logically, you could say that people who are crazy are obviously crazy enough to get weapons themselves no matter what. However, I think that in practice, what winds up happening is that a lot of those mentally unstable people wind up doing what they do in part because they have such easy access to a firearm.
Either there is someone else's gun in the house or something or it's really easy for them to get one when they're having a time of rage or anger. I don't think that all of these people always have a constant desire to kill. If it took them maybe a much longer time to be able to obtain a gun, they might not want to do what they were going to do anymore. Not all of them, but some of them. But, if they have a moment of rage and a fire arm is in reach... then it makes it almost too easy for them to do something. And it's not just mass shootings I'm talking about here. It's any kind of shooting.
There is the argument of "guns don't kill people, people kill people." but in practice, guns make killing people A LOT easier... and make it possible to hurt A LOT more people more quickly.
Think about it like this... if a drug addict has a bag of cocaine sitting right next to them.... are they likely to get high? But what if that same drug addict has to drive 300 miles to a town and then go through a drug checkpoint on the way and pay 500 dollars for that same bag of cocaine? Are they AS likely to get high?

I've got some firearms. I like firearms. I like firing them and I like cleaning them and keeping them in good order. All oiled and ready to use.
But I cannot see any reason on earth why any citizen would have need of a war (military) weapon of any kind or even an assault weapon, automatic or not.
If you can't manage to protect yourself with 15 rounds in a good hand gun or a dozen rounds from a scoped 30.30, you need a lot more time on the practice range. Spraying bullets all over the place isn't actually very effective. It only takes one shot from a marksman to kill anybody, even a zombie.

    • Need a assault rifle? Wtf does "need" have to do with me wanting one. They are sleek well designed machines. Awesome to look at and fun to take to the range.
And if your need for a weapon was "zombies" you're going to need as much ammo carrying capacity as possible with the least amount of reload time.

      • thegypsysailor

If you need to hit a zombie in the head to stop it, spraying your ammo indiscriminately is just a waste. We're right back to someone who can actually hit what they are aiming at, not playing with a toy because they think it's awesome.
Assault weapons should be outlawed, period.

        • You are a complete idiot. A AR-15 or equivalent with the right setup is way more accurate than your 30-30 with a larger magazine capacity to boot. Who said anything about saturation firing? Just you. Who obviously isn't as educated in weaponry as you pretend to be.

Why is it all the gun nuts quote this passage and yet always fail to understand the meaning of the phrase "A well regulated Militia"?
Nowhere in this document does it even hint that the intention is to arm the people indiscriminately. Nowhere.

It should be a law to be trained in the use of and own at least 1 firearm. Acceptions of course but for the most part.

    Stevens 12 gauge pump
    Taurus tcp .380
    Taurus pt111 g2 9mm
    Walther ppx 9mm
    Springfield xd-40 .40 caliber
    Savage 110c series j 7mm rem. Mag
    Essex single shot 12 gauge
    Winchester bolt action .22

    More to come.

A freedom loving people have the civic responsibility to be skilled at marksmanship. Switzerland is one such example. I do my part by making 500 meter head shots at the range occasionally.

I am an American, and I own a small caliber sniper rifle.

I have a couple and I love them. I'm a good marksman and I have a clean background, I keep them in a safe place and they are well maintained and I can use a gun like a professional.

Mine are legal but I could easily get way higher powered weapons illegally if I wanted to. You'd be surprised how easily it can be done to import weapons from other countries.

I love being in America where with the right permits one can own a machine gun. Everyone needs a machine gun. There would be less crime if criminals didn't know if you had a machine gun or not.

Africa is pretty awesome as well, because license or not you can get a machine gun. Everyone needs a machine gun. There would be less crime if criminals didn't know if you had a machine gun or not.

The UK sucks monkey balls for not allowing machine guns.

And no, I'm not anti-gun at all. I carry a .380 with a lawful concealed carry permit. I just wish it was a machine gun.
