I lost/ threw away something i treasure, and feel crazy sick over it.

Is it normal to feel completely sickened and mad at myself for throwing something out that I loved? i accidentally threw away a couple things into the recycle bin that i loved, a cross necklace was one of them and for the past two weeks it's all i think about, feel like crying over it a lot too. I just wish i could go back in time and be more careful....in the meantime I'm afraid it's going to literally make me crazy

I am a guy. So I would say go buy a new one and get over it.

I agree, I am so sorry. I'm sorry for anybody has lost anything like that, it sucks and people who don't try to find the owner of something like that are complete jerks. I am starting to feel better than I did a few days ago, but now I feel like I don't deserve to buy anything else since I don't take care of my things (Obviously). I am also mad at myself for making an inanimate object so important, but I can't seem to help feel that way. I think I may be transferring stress and loss of other more "real" things onto this object. Do any of you think you may be doing this?

I lost some rings recently and I cried for days. It was a couple months ago now but it still makes me sad. One of the rings was something I'd bought when I lived overseas. It was not replacable and I've worn it everyday for five years. Sadly, I put them down to clean my hands and then walked away. Came back a few minutes later and someone had walked off with them. I still want to hurt the person who didn't turn them in to the lost and found. A real asshole. I was heartbroken.

I guess you realized you had a deeper emotional attachment to it...I Know How Feel.

yeah i am like that with a pair of shoes that i threw away years ago. they were the most comfortable shoes i ever had and i have never been able to find another pair that is as comfortable. i also regret selling a car i had. so yeah, its normal.

I have done that before too & felt just awful over it. Was there a special meaning behind why you loved the necklace so much?
