I look for roaches in my house, even if there usually aren't any.

I moved into my place almost a year ago. I saw a total of 3 sewer roaches in my place since I've moved in, and three that were outside, including one outside flying roach. I wasn't terribly obsessed at first as the first one I found in my place was right after I moved in last year. The summer heat of this year, though, brought out 2 roaches within two days and one of them was huge and FLYING inside my house and flying roaches i always find horrifying. After that, I became totally obsessed. My place is usually clean and uncluttered, but I took the next step in finishing sealing ALL cracks in the house and making sure that ALL the kitchen and bathroom drains are always closed when I'm not using them. After taking these steps I haven't seen a roach for about two months. However, I am still looking for them on almost a daily basis. If i'm not too obsessed, I'll just look for them before I take a shower (check behind hanging bath towels, and at the base of the shower curtain, and also around perimeters of the shower walls). If i'm in super-obsessive mode, I check all possible hiding places--in all drawers and shelves, under my sheets, in the closets, behind the cutting board...if I think they could hide somewhere, I look. Is it normal to be this obsessed after having a few cockroach sitings in my place?

Ha ha ha, roaches! I thought you meant the roach from a joint.

Cockroaches don't exist were I live, so I never think about them (the bug kind).

its all good. thats normal. That experience probably scard you for life and flying roaches are scary as hell so i sure as hell dont blame you. I would be freaked out too. I guess after awhile you should start to feel a lil more secure but it takes time. Its all a mental thing. Your fears is what controls your actions. Thats how our government is getting us to throw away our rights through fear. Once you control fear you control everything.

I live I'm TX and the roaches are terrible. I'm the same way. I feel like I'm paranoid in my own home and I can never relax. I'm always keeping an eye out for them. We had an exterminator come and dump this white powder all around and I haven't seen one in like two months. Knock on wood. The powder will probably take 5 years off my life, but at least those bastards are gone. Good luck my friend. You're not alone!!

I thought cockroaches lived everywhere! Where do u live? I wanna move there!
Seriously if u do it frequently like everyday more than a few times and are obsessing over it and it's controlling your behavior you may have OCD. Try hard not to do it and if it makes you anxious or upset, maybe get help

I live in Canada in an area that has a dessert climate - it's a part of the same dessert that's in Arizona. We don't get cockroaches, but we have rattle snakes, black widows, and recluse spiders. Still, there are no cockroaches.
