I like to wear a balaclava (ski masks) or a surgical mask when it's cold. I do not have severe asthma or any serious illnesses. I simply enjoy wearing one when it's chilly outside to warm up my breath and the nice snug feeling of protecting your face.

I like to wear surgical masks when I am Asian countries, and a balaclava in America. I am Asian.

Americans tend to look at you a lot when they see surgical masks. Please comment below what unsettle you out more, surgical masks or balaclavas.

    Balaclava would unsettle me way more. Surgical masks on an Asian person look completely normal. But balaclavas are for bank robbers.

    A balaclava would unsettle me much more than a surgical mask because of its association with terrorism and crime.

    I've just started wearing a smoke mask, similar to a surgical mask, because any form of air pollution badly affects my lungs (I have emphysema). It seems to puzzle people but not unsettle them, especially as I've decorated a couple of them with textas to match different clothing.
