I like to pop my dogs ticks???

I have a dog named Belle and a Cat named Birdie. Both of them get ticks occasionally. I love them so much, and I consider myself normal. I am thin, a cheerleader, and popular, but I have this weird habit that is really weird.

When ever I find a tick on my cat or dog, I gently remove it, and then wrap it in a napkin or toilet paper. Usually the tick is really big because it has been sucking blood, and is usually still alive.

I wrap it so I cant see it, then I use my two fingers to pop it. I can hear the sound it makes when it pops. When I'm done, I always look at its spilled guts and blood, then I throw it away or flush it down the toilet.

I find this to be weird because I never hurt animals. Like once my cat almost killed a Bee, so I made a little habitat for it with flowers and everything, and then I nearly cried when it died.

Is this normal or just super weird???

Thanks for reading xD

What does being a thin popular cheerleader have to do with this? Nobody cares.

Yes, I do think it is normal for you to kill them. I don't think that they are beneficial towards any type of life form. Same goes with parasites, Mosquitos, spiders, etc. Spiders are evil, if I see one, I either kill it myself or get someone else to do it for me.

Your best defence against most of these would be a carnivorous plant. When getting one, make sure that you know how to properly care for them. For parasites and others you can use diatomaceous earth. http://www.richsoil.com/diatomaceous-earth.jsp

You must make absolutely sure that when you remove the body to also get the head/stinger. If a stinger stays imbedded, I think it can still infect the organism with Lyme Disease. Use a pair of tweezers and some tea tree oil. Coat the tweezers in the oil and Drop the tick in some of the oil.

A cat named birdie :D awww

I don't think its too weird. I don't like to kill bugs but ticks are disgusting. If that's the worst thing you've ever done...you'll be alright, kid.

I did that when my gerbils got mites, i would crush them under a pencil eraser and could hear the pop and there was blood, I normally hate to kill anything even parasites like that, but I just got so frustrated cause they were everywhere and wouldn't go away. Went on a little rampage heh. looking back i feel kinda bad about it. It's not that weird though, in fact feeling bad for them is probably less normal xd
