I like "real" and "false" metal.

I know well of "true" metalheads who like to shit on nu metal bands like Linkin Park (as of now, that one's more alt-rock) for not being acceptable to them. I actually love a few nu-metal acts such as Korn, LP, Ill Nino, Slipknot, and a few acts mistakenly called nu such as System of a Down, Rage Against the Machine, Evanescence and Marilyn Manson. However, I also love blasting "real" metal such as Pantera, Slayer, Metallica (first four albums only), Motley Crue, Anthrax, Judas Priest and others. I don't like the concepts of "real" and "false" metal. If it's too heavy and loud to be rock, then it's metal. It's all music to me. I'm not some misguided mallcore wannabe who shops at Hot Topic, but I'm not one of those abrasive, narrow-minded metal purists.

I do hate "metalcore" on the other hand.

Im the same way, I dont like most of the screamo or death metal, but i do love metallica, black sabbath, poison, alice cooper, and the classics, as well as some of the new metal.

Tbh, a "true metalhead" wouldn't shit in any band, because they would understand the love of music and value the opinions of others, even if they clashed with their own.

Thank you. I actually have extremely eclectic tastes ranging from classic pop to concious hip-hop to old-school alternative to new wave, I just happen to listen to and like metal the most. That's what makes me a metalhead, by my definition.

For reference, my two favorite CD's are Reign in Blood and Hybrid Theory.

I'm a musician...I do play metal but i consider my genre as Progressive Metal. It leaves such a spectrum of different influences to change within it. seems every band that comes out invents its own style name...or throws "post" in the beginning, nothing is really post. people need to stop trying to date a style...either you have style or you dont. Cheesiest one ive heard is Post Clown-Core Metal. I didnt know it was even alive let alone after...lmao

I'm "hardcore" enough to like a song (Numb) that's too metal to be rock? Really? I don't know much about gitar stuff. I hear people's earbuds sound like machine guns and thought only that was real metal.

Yeah, you can like whatever music you want. I think all these sub-genres and stereotypes of people that listen to types of music are getting ridiculus. I like most types of rock and metal including the ones that are "false" so i think your perfectly normal.
