I know a woman who lied about sexual abuse when she was a kid

I went to school with a woman who had her step father put in prison when she was 12 for molestation. He got out a few months ago. About 25 years ago, when we were about 20, she got drunk and admitted to me that she blamed the stepdad for what her stepbrother did, simply because she didnt like the guy. I kept it all to myself for many years. A few months ago, i finally told her mother, who didnt seem to care much. It really surprised me that my "friend" let a guy rot in jail for so many years, but neither her nor her mother seem to have any sympathy for the guy. I'm not sure what I'm asking here. Just comments about your opinion I guess.

She should spend the same amount of time, plus ten years. Horrible.

    • I agree. Its hard to imagine what it would be like to go to prison for something you didn't do.

  • So when you were 20 why didn’t you go to the police?
You let an innocent man do another 25 years.

    • Good question. While I did talk to a local lawyer about it, I did not tell the authorities, because he said that what a woman babbles when she is staggeringly drunk would not hold up in court. I also wasn't sure if i believed her anyway. I regret not saying something then.

  • The mother probably told her to do it because she was angry at him.

    • Actually, no. The two have gotten closer in recent years, but at the time, she did not believe her daughter and testified on his behalf in court. After sentencing, she left her daughter to live with relatives until she was 17.

Its wierd how things work. According to her moms story, there was absolutely no physical evidence and the timeframes weren't correct. There were no witnesses and no reason to suspect anything. He was convicted solely on a 12 year olds testimony who couldn't keep her story straight. Supposedly even a psychiatrist could find no reason to think that the stepdad was the one who abused her. I just don't get it.

I have a hard time believing that sorry. The "justice" system is a mess but what 30+ years....based on no evidence. That's tough to swallow.

        • I'm not saying that I know for sure that its true, just what I was told by her mom. She does have a tendency to exaggerate. I have heard from other people who were there that they found no physical evidence, though so I'm leaning toward believing that. I'm not sure my drunken friend was even telling me the truth that night, its just what she told me.

I understand. Drunk people sometimes say stuff they shouldn't.

so now you know the nature of your friends , and for the men reading do not ever marry a woman with kids. Its not worth the jail time when you can marry a woman without kids just as easy.

I think God's telling you to punish these people. It is time for God's wrath to be unleashed, this man had to rot away and be hated for by his family and friends for something he never and probably never would do. Make a plan and follow through. Make sure they never let something like this happen again. Do something so sickishly violent evil sweet it repays every year he rotted.
