I judge things heavily based on intentions

A lot of the time, my feelings towards a certain actions are predominantly based on their intents rather than the actual content. For example, when I first heard "The Fox", I thought it was one of the worst things I had ever heard until I found out it was a parody, and now I like it. Often when I hear people doing horrible things I am also enraged until I hear that their intentions were not really bad at all. I still condemn the actions and think they should never do it again but my rage often subsides. I also didn't think the song "Hot Problems" was bad at all considering the singers knew they weren't good and it was done as a gag, despite being branded as the worst song ever by many. However, I thought "Friday" was genuinely the worst song ever considering it was dead serious.

Is it normal to often judge by intentions?

I used to hate "what does the fox say" song. When I learned it was just a joke song, my hate lessened a little. But it's still awful. The friday song is indeed awful.

  • Yes. I think you are totally right. Sometimes the intention is totally disregarded, which is not fair because a "bad" action with a pure intention can be a great action, and a good action with a horrible intent makes the action an awful one (generally).

And like you said, what does the fox say. I just thought it was stupid and pointless and weird, but if what you say is true and its a parody, then my feelings for it change to something more appreciative.

Anyways... Yep. Totally normal I think.
