I.i.n that ignorance irritates the sh*t out of me

I could give you a best selling novel on this little subject but i decided to start off this rant with a personal story of mine:

I was sitting in Tourism class joking around with a friend of mine when i was supposed to be working (The subject feels like a bad joke at times) and this girl stuck her hand up and asked the teacher this little line:
"Mam?, Is India in Africa?"
A jock in the back of the class laughed his arse off and said" Yah, its in Durban!" (Any south africans will get that one)
The rest of the period was devoted to jokes and general discussion about India and Indians in general, filled with stereotypes of buddists\Hindus\Moslems (Yah they confused those) It got me annoyed, not because im Indian myself, but because i realised how ingorant your average westerner these days is about the world in general. (That girl was a middle class 16 year old white) I mean hey we love to go on how were the most educated generation that ever lived with acces to info at the touch of a button(Google,Wikipedia,I.n.n(lol)

I see it on facebook when white and black south africans rant and troll at eachother about our countries past, half the people have no idea wtf theyre talking about. Genocide watch.com tries to prevent stuff like a repeatof rwanda 1994, but the whole world only knew rwanda existed after the genocide and then only because they showed footage of skulls on Cbs and Fox, They try to warn the world about whats happening to Afrikaners in my country but practically no one knows we exist. Charlize Theron is an Afrikaner-did you know that? sorry for the babble, but what it basicaly boils down to is that people being ignorant leads to halfs the worlds problems and i wondered if anyone of you fine people agree

Even back in the day, most people were generally fairly ignorant of what was going on outside of their little hometown.

It is what it is. Personally, I don't know shit about a lot of shit and the world is a pretty big place. I highly doubt even you are totally educated regarding the happenings of every country on Earth.

Problem is mate people don't want to know.

    Their problems are real problems.

Eg what shall i wear to the prom tonight.

I wonder if mary sue is gonna put out tonight i can't wait to bang her.

Oh no we've lost our internet connection.

Never mind about the people in the world that have no legs because of a bomb blast or the fact that one wrong step could kill you.

    Some dumb blonde said this.

"ok just found out that south africa is a country and is also part of africa witch makes no sense bcause how can a country be in another country. #confused
