I hide my canadian accent, is it normal?

When I get to a word like "about" "don't" "out" ect. I really try to tone down my accent. I change my intonation too (which goes along with a strong canadian accent). I work with a lot of americans and I have actually known other Canadians to be bullied or made fun of their accents so I'm REALLY insecure over mine.

Remember that Americans living in the central states that border Canada (Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, etc) sound just like you. Sounds like your co-workers just want to tease you.

accents are cute. Apparantly, I still have my new York accent even though I haven't lived there in a billion years.
