I have to use a soapy finger to clean my butt after pooing.

If I have a poo, if I just wipe (which I do standing up), my butt is not clean, after a while it will start to itch really badly. It will need to be wiped again, no matter how much I wiped the first time. So now after wiping, if the paper is still soiled I have to soap up a finger and insert it into my anus to get it clean. Normal?

I get in the shower at home everytime i poop and sit on the floor of the shower and dig the remains out with my finger as the water pours down between my legs. Ive been doing so for at least 10 years. And I use baby wipes elsewhere but i still dont feel clean.

Update: Well, I get right in there when I wipe. But I still use the soapy method if the toilet paper is still soiled when I get to the end (of the selection, not the roll). I mentioned it to my Dr and he said it was fine. He (unfortunately) checked my rectum and there were no problems.

I wipe when I sit down. Then you can grab more of the poop out. Then I wipe when I stand up...

Well, I told my Dr about it because I thought the itching meant worms and his advice was to do said action when I was in the shower. It doesn't get worse by washing it like I describe, it does stop any itching, as I remove any fecal matter that may remain. I had my prostate checked when I was in hospital and they didn't mention anything, but it won't hurt to bring it up with my GP. Thanks for the advice!

You should clean with water and soap after wiping. I do that every time, I swear. I can't stand just cleaning myself with tissue or wipes. Although, It is not necessary to insert your finger inside your anus because the soap will irritate it. If by not inserting, you still get an itch, then you really have to consult your doctor.

Not normal. Sounds as if you had a so-called wet anus condition. Which can be due to different causes. From candida albicans infection to hemmorroids or a disfunction of the perianal glands, up to more serious problems.
Whatever it is, using soap will irritate more. It would be a good step to consult a proctologist for a more precise dyagnostic.
