i love the texture the the color it turns when it dries. it started when i accidentally smeared some on a piece of paper, and now it's my most desired medium. anybody ever tried this?
lots of people use blood as a medium, I've used a little before myself and it gives the picture a cool effect. Too bad I didn't like it after it dried and turned brown. Just don't harm yourself, another person, or an animal.
An artist must do what they feel they must do. Speaking from experience, I have an intolerable urge to keep every scrap (dirtied tissue with paint on it, cut scraps of paper, ripped and teared paper, sketches that I dumped) and make it into another work of art.
It's completely normal as long as you get it in a humane manner. Just as beautiful_dreamer said, packages of fresh meat at the store are chock full of animal blood! It's basically the same consistency and will give you the same effect you desire.
Nothing is too weird when it comes to art.
You like blood paint? Alright, here's something to help you out then. :D Go to the store and ask for some fresh cow or chicken livers. They come in containers filled with blood. Drain out the livers, and now you have paint! Better than cutting yourself or someone else.

i had a very crazy ex boyfriend who was an artist and professional skateboarder who without warning laid out this giant white canvas on his garage floor, ripped my tampon out of my body, proceeded to fuck me on the big white canvas, and then used my period blood and acrylics to paint. Honestly it turned out beautiful. when you looked at the painting aerial it had a Georgia O Keefe vibe which was ironic
i mean i paint with mine and i also like the way it shows up on the paper. i however dont agree with it if you hurt yourself to get the blood because i have also done that and it ended up getting infected.
Great idea! Try new things and come right out with ideas maybe you may become professional one day. Just don't hurt yourself,others,animals
It will coagulate on your brush, and it smells bad. But if that doesn't bother you go ahead

I've wondered too, but when I've seen dried blood on paper it seems quite unappealing to me.
I have a friend who did this. It turned out awesome, but after a few hours she passed out. Also, it decays and is really unhygienic.
Um, not sure about the normalcy, but if you MUST paint with blood - go like buy some. Find a friend that has connections with a blood bank or something. Don't cut yourself.. and don't cut anyone else
I haven't tried it. I am a bit less sensitive to blood, but I don't think I'd use blood to paint, especially if it meant I had to cut myself (or someone/something). I'm too squeamish. Thanks for the suggestion, but... xD Yeah, I couldn't do that.
Do you cut yourself when you use blood to paint? That could be dangerous to you, if you cut by your wrist or any other important veins or arteries. Be careful. Also the cut spot could get infected and you could get weak if you painted with blood a lot. I'd say not to use blood because of the dangers.
You could see if actual red paint was the same, or even if it's not, to try it because you shouldn't be hurting yourself (but I'm not sure of all the details of your new painting hobby, I'm just giving suggestions).
