I have so many feelings after closing on my house

I just closed on my first house, and I have SO many feelings going on. Of course, I am extremely happy and excited, but also nervous and a little freaked out, and I don't really know why. It's just like there are a million emotions going through my head.

    first order of business:

figure out how to shut off the main water supply into your new house

operate the valve too dont just look at it

if its stiff or jammed dont force it & break it call a plumber and get it workin

or do it yourself if youre confident about it

figure out how to kill the main breaker too while youre pokin around at that kinda stuff

    well or city water?

    septic or city sewer?

    overhead or underground electric?

    what kinda climate?

    how much land?

Well buying a house is a big deal, so of course it's normal to feel that way.

Welcome to home ownership. Your feelings are normal. There's a lot of joy and excitement, and also a lot of responsibilities and new stuff.

I 2nd "donteatstuffoffthesidewalk" on being sure you know how to shut the water and power off (and practice doing it).

Also, be sure you know how to shut off the water to the washing machine (many newer houses - or retrofitted into older houses have a 1 handled valve that shut off/on the water to both the cold/hot water hoses. Ensure its off when you go on vacations or even a long weekend (lets just say there's a reason for that easy shutoff and many people have learned their lessons: Also, just replace the washing machine hoses every 10 years - regardless of how they feel: Cheap insurance).

If you have a hydronic heating system (water that circulates); be sure that you know how to drain the system in an emergency too (including how to open the vents on radiators, etc)... to prevent pipes from freezing.

You have an exciting future with your new house... Enjoy it.

Totally normal, write down those feelings in a journal.
