I have sexual thoughts about kids.. please help

I'm a 22 year old male and I am worried about my well-being, i tend to have sexual thoughts about kids... if i see a child that I find attractive i fantasize about bending them over and forcing myself onto her, i usually have these thoughts about little girls aged 8-12 but recently i have been worrying that these urges might escalate to the point that i might rape a kid out of such strong sexual desire. I am not sure that i am able to control myself.. and i am afraid of getting help because i don't want to get in legal trouble or go to a psych ward or anything.. what should i do?

    It might help if you worried more about the well being of these children you think about, than yourself. It would be a good place to start, anyway.

    Go to the hospital! A psychiatric ward is much better than jail. If you act on your urges you will end up in jail. Incarceration isn't kind to those who hurt children. You will be a marked man in prison.

    I feel where you're coming from. I knew this one girl from the time she was 8 years old till today. She was my friend's little sister. She was a beautiful child and very pretty young girl. I often had dirty thoughts about her. But I never acted on my impulses. Today she's 16 and respects me a lot as her older brother's best friend and she even asks me for advice sometimes. And you know what? I wouldn't have it any other way. I loved this girl so much that I never took advantage of her and never ever had the heart to consider the thought of messing up her life forever and completely ruining her and smashing her innocence to bits. I never gave her a reason to doubt my character and moral integrity. I gave her every reason to put her full faith and trust in me. That's what true love is.
