    I believe it to be common (I have in fact had a little bit of a crush on a friend's mum), but a couple of problems:

    If the friend finds out, they may take it as a big insult. Ever seen The Graduate? Remember how Elaine Robinson reacted when she found out about Ben and her mum?

    You DO NOT want to get her pregnant, that would be disastrous!

    But it would probably be good for you to explore, and it would probably teach you a lot. Try and arrange a sleepover or something, or to stay over in a room with the friend for a wee while, and socialise with the mum (not more than the friend; would raise suspicions). Eventually, when the two of you are alone somewhere, try and admit how you feel. She will very probably be flattered and understand. See where the conversation takes you... You might just end up having a good time!
