I have an unexplainable interest to abandoned buildings?!

So here's the thing - I live in an out-of-town HUGE quarter with A LOT OF blocks. Our quarter is surrounded by all kinds of old and already abandoned buildings used for many different things (factories, cowsheds, etc) and whenever I see one of them I feel something unexplainable like a combination of lust for discovering them and fear of them (because they're scary af lol) and it makes me go to them and look at them for hours thinking what it looked like when it was still working, why is it abandoned and even entering in them and looking around (which is pretty dangerous). I have no idea why I'm so passionate about these forsaken years ago premises. It's like a non-sexual fetish or something idk xdd Sometimes when I'm coming back home from somewhere and I walk by them but don't have time to enjoy them I get SUPER upset and even start crying a little bit. Is that normal? Is there a scientific explanation for this? Is it even something real or just something i've made up in my mind? THANK YOU!

They even have a name for those who explore them; urban spelunkers.

I don't know if there's a scientific explanation for it, but I like seeing abandoned buildings as well, though the ones I enjoy are mostly stores and other businesses. My mind wanders into what the place looked like in it's heyday and what kinds of people shopped there. I sometimes do some pointless research online to find out when the building was built, when and why things started to go downhill for the business, and when they shut their doors. I enjoy reading people's personal stories about what used to be there, what they did there, and what crimes or events happened there. It either leaves me feeling really happy or really sad. YouTube has a BUNCH of videos of abandoned buildings and watching those is pretty fun too.

Same, I love exploring abandoned buildings and junkyards, they have an eerie beauty to them.

Incidentally, have you ever heard of Troy Paiva? He photographs abandoned places and things, mostly out towards California, Us. He does it at night and uses different types of lighting to create some really beautiful and surreal pictures, under the "lost America" title. Here's a link to his gallery

Totally normal, when i walk past an abandoned or burned-out building, my first thought is running around naked in it. i have only done this a few times (in Michigan and Pennsylvania) but when i see the building, it triggers my desire. You are 100% normal. Good luck!

You sound strange. However, it is fun to blow them up with explosives, that what I do!

Some people like to go rat hunting at midnight in abandoned buildings. But I agree, they also provide a good safety shell for testing explosives.

Either way, the rats lose out.
