I have an extreme addiction to chocolate, normal?

I need it for every meal and snacks. It's gotten so bad that I finish a big box of cadbury creme eggs while I'm sleeping (wake up often, everytime eat 2-3 of them and go back to sleep. My breakfast is a mixing bowl of either Cocoa Puffs or Cocoa Krispies (the whole box fits in). I don't eat lunch just snacks. MnMs, Kit Kats, Pepperidge farm cookies and lots more. That carries over into dinner actually. I also finish a hershey syrup bottle every day. I hear lots of people are addicted to chocolate so is it normal?

You should really stop. Those aren't even chocolates worth dying for.

Oh wow. That's really bad for your health, not to mention your teeth if you're eating sugar in the middle of the night.

People actually have a dopamine reaction to certain foods, just like they do with certain drugs, but this seems like a bahvioral habit for you as well, kinda like smoking (you get addicted to the behavior as much as the nicotine...you smoke when your stressed, smoke when you drink, smoke after you eat, etc, so these all become triggers)...it may be just as hard to quit.

I read something about the fact that if you consume very small amounts of a food you crave on a daily basis, you stop craving it, but that might not work for you since chocolate is already a daily habit for you.

I know a few tricks that might help...at least they work for me. If I want to stop myself from eating something, or too much of something, I brush my teeth, floss, and use mouthwash whenever I crave a food I don't want to eat. Most stuff tastes awful after you brush your teeth.

Also, sweets cause your blood sugar to spike and then crash, which makes you crave them more. You could try eating small meals throughout the day, consisting of foods that keep your blood sugar stable...sweet potatoes and brown rice work the best for me, but you might have to fiddle around and see what you like.

If you crave the taste of chocolate at first, you could suck on coco nibs- it's basically the base of chocolate without the coco butter (fat) and sugar...it might help as a substitute.

Good luck overcoming this. I know people minimise food addictions, but they can be just as serious and unhealthy as substance abuse, and just as hard to overcome.

This is NOT normal. That's just way too much sugar, calories, and fat. You're either going to wind up diabetic or obese. You need to find a way to have more self control and indulge less on those snacks.

Are those the ones made by Nestlé? They can be ordered in bulk online. Ebay and Amazon carry them and I order them from time to time.
      :)

You're welcome. Though you have to be careful and read the product description the sellers have first. Some of them will intentionally sell expired product since people still buy it due to it not being available in their country.
