I have a a problem.

When I first meet people, they mostly seem to like me. That goes on for a while, but after some time (usually a couple of months) they start do dislike me. This procedure has been going on circling for a while now, every time I socialize with a new group of people. Any ideas as to what I might be doing wrong? What would you say?

I think we need more to go by.
Just throwing ideas around, since I don't know your situation:

    - Maybe you present yourself differently when meeting people?
    - Maybe you've changed / they've changed?
    - Maybe you spend too much time with them?
    - Maybe you spend too little time with them?

  • We value friendships as people we can both have fun with and be serious with. My closest, longest friendships have been the ones with which we can have a good time together but also talk about serious issues at the right times.

I've had friends and known people who are always at the extreme ends of the two and I tend to want to "take a break", if you will, from them. Perhaps you take things too serious or, more likely, you act silly to the point where your friends find you unpleasant to be around.

Going with what Corleone said, maybe you present yourself differently when meeting people or maybe your interests and/or values differ/have changed from theirs. Maybe they don't get your humor?

Being too "clingy" or never taking the initiative to talk or hang out with them can get people disliking you. Someone I know has gotten too clingy with a best friend of hers and never wanted her hanging out with anyone else. They're not friends anymore.

Another persons friend who went on vacation with us got on everyone's nerves by the end of the week. For example, while at the opening day of Harry Potter, he constantly kept repeating "tartar sauce" in the peskiest voice imaginable. It was funny at first, but after day three we all had enough and despite this knowledge he continued just for a kick. Another thing he did was beast on all the dang food, leaving barely anything for anyone else. On top of that he said he was a vegetarian yet he ate burgers the entire trip and when asked why he was a vegetarian...well it doesn't matter because he wasn't; I'm pretty sure he was lying. He said he was just doing it for the heck of it and for other reasons along the lines of mindlessness. He was basically conveying how he was against animal slaughter as he munched on a hamburger.

  • I've been testing this girl to see if she's stop talking to me if I was negative to her...Still talks to me, so I don't get it.

Maybe you're doing nothing wrong, and its just them with the problem.
