I have 3 teeth that are hollowed out

Basically, I had 3 huge cavities eat up some of my teeth and 6 months back, I had my dentist take out some of the roots and he sealed it up with temporary filling but that fell out only a month or so later. I can't even afford the dentist anymore so I'm stuck with 3 hollowed out teeth in my mouth. IIN?

Yes - dentists are fricking expensive and don't really care about your mouth unless you have $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Oh and gee - they make more money than any profession. What pricks....

I'm not a dentist, but something similar to this happened to me with one of my teeth. As I understand it, you have options. You can get the teeth extracted, which may be the cheapest option. If your teeth haven't broken, they may be able to put crowns on as they are, but I'm not sure. You should do it as soon as you can, though, because your teeth will break if you don't. If your teeth have broken, a good dentist may be able to repair them if there's enough of the structure still intact. If you get them extracted, you can get them replaced with implants.

Temporary? What material did they use for your fillings? Chewing gum?

Temporary fillings are standard for root canal operations. The dentist drills into the root canals, which are inside the roots of your teeth, removing the "pulp", which is the tissue inside the roots of your teeth. In cases where the entire pulp must be removed, they allow the tooth to heal for a while. The tooth has to be filed down to where you can't bite down and touch it with your other teeth, because when some of the internal structure has been removed, teeth can become very brittle and may break upon impact. Later, when the tooth has healed, they remove the temporary filling, put in a permanent filling, and put a crown on.

OR you don't go back, and then your teeth are just awful forever.

That's what I am dealing with right now. I had a filling in my rear tooth and a cavity developed behind the filling and my parents didn't really believe in doctors or the like so by the time I had gotten around the seeing the dentist, 2/3 of the tooth rotted away. I now have a temporary filling and next year I plan on getting dental insurance and I need to have my wisdom teeth removed so that I can get a crown and for now I have a temporary filling.

I would think that would be something they should fix for free considering they did a crappy job

Ouch.. try not to drag it for too long. I had a small cavity that I just neglected for about 2 years. At some point I had a nasty inflammation, but lacking the funds just survived through it with T3's.

Now I just payed a fortune to save the remains of that tooth. So the more time passes the more it's gonna cost you. :/

go to some university with a dental program, they can fix your teeth much cheaper, cause they're trainees, but use at your own risk.

Also consider dental insurance or get a job that has it. Just remember if you don't deal with it, you could end up in extreme pain one day, deal with it now.
