I just loved that show when it came out. Aging myself here. But as I look back, that show brought blacks and whites kissing, racism (vulcans), the men with reverse black and white faces, the first cell phone (communicators), so many other things that I can't think of right now. It was a revolutionary show. The acting was so so, but stlll a good show.
IMOO, They exist in the show to remind us that pure logic is a bad thing, that emotions is an uttermost important part of humanity. They bother you? They are supposed to!

Vulcans are amazing. I like that they are logical about things. But then again I over value logic. Sure emotions are wonderful but the human race would be so much more ahead if we thought more than felt. so yeah not normal that you hate them to me. logic is hot

Yea I love the show, but I wish the producers didn't pull the trademark race stuff. I love each kind of Star Trek, but Vulcans just get on my nerves. And a LOT of things were inspired by Star Trek, even now. I bet who-ever invented tablet computers was inspired by padds. And what about the non-mundane...
