It makes me really angry when I watch TV soaps and all the couples who are supposed to have children are in the pub or out for the night. There is no mention of babysitters and it is so unrealistic. It makes me so angry that TV portrays that having babies / young children does not have any effect on your life.

Is is normal that I get annoyed at this?
Get over it, you shouldn't dwell on made-up stories and that's how it goes, you cannot change it unless you're the film director. If you're an emotionally attached viewer, the solution is quite simple: Avoid watching TV.
I get annoyed at the fact that there are never two people with the same name. So unreal, nothing wrong with a couple of Alexes around.
I watched a soap one time...i noticed they never do laundry, never go to the bathroom, and always seem to have a glass of whatever in their hand.
tv portrays a lot of things completly unrealistically and i agree that it is affecting peoples lives. a great documentary about JUST this, well actiually its a series, but really funny and in a documentary style (non-fiction) is 'How tv ruined your life'. you can watch it on topdocumentaryfilms.com
or when the women are pregnant for either too long or way to short - or when the characters come back from the dead - etc.... so on an so fourth.
I just hink it gives teenagers the wrong idea that their lives can carry on as usual if they have babies! They don't understand that part is totaly unrealistic until they are in the stuck at home with a baby / young child. Even when the child is in bed they can't go out and leave it unattended!
