I hate to pay tips

I hate to pay tips. You are not rewarding your server with 2 bucks to say you did a good job. No. You are paying them to do their jobs so the employer who hired them to do that job is off the hook.

No, it's a way to show that you're not ungrateful.

That is a very american thing. I would never tip a waiter.

    Yep, totally agree.

I'm trying to restrict my eating out to in-person fast-food pickups because I don't like how tips inflate my bill. It's not like the food is free. I used to use Doordash, but it actually defaults to a *30%* tip for the driver, and just... no. You're driving a couple of miles down the road from my house and then leaving the food on my porch in a bag. These guys never even contact me for missing items, substitutions, or cancellations, and I'm already being charged a delivery fee. I don't care about your hourly when you're barely doing anything. Why is there even a delivery fee when the restaurant isn't doing anything extra (no company car, gas they're paying for, special containers, or missing employees), and Doordash already has a separate service fee? I am NOT this dude's employer, I don't care how many assholes say I am, Doordash is. They should be paying him, and if that drives up what I see on the menu, I'll deal with that. As it stands now, to hell with it, gas is way less expensive, I'll just drive out and get the crap myself. At least then, I won't be hit with the "tip me all your money or be a pariah" shakedown.

For the record, though, I always tip.

First off it's valid to say that if the workers are lazy you wouldn't want to pay them extra. However, a lot of door dashers I have had, have called, asked about substitutions and handed me food. So like I think you might have just gotten shitty service from the few you have delt with or otherwise need to fix your settings.

Alas. It is was it is. So don’t go out to eat if you’re not gonna tip 20%.

    I'm glad we don't have a tipping-culture where I live.

I find it hypocritical when these socialists say they dont like to tip. Waiters work off of tips. They are giving you service and YOU are the employer. And when its time for you to pay your worker you dont want to and you complain. But then people complain that other people dont want to pay their employees enough. I am a big evil capitalist and I hardly ever tip under atleast $15. Ive given $100 dollar tips before. Put your money where your mouth is and pay your employees ya hypocrite. You are complaining about 2 dollars!? Youre greedy.

BS. The owner of the restaurant is the employer, you are a customer paying for the restaurant to provide a full service. Its not 'socialist' to expect an employer (the restauranter) to pay HIS/HER employees a wage they can live on.

So, do you add insult to injury by not paying those tips? It's not like they made up the rule. It's not like the server can change it. Sure, they can change their job, but that is so much easier said than done. The only way to punish the employer would be to not go out at all. That means no door dash either.

I don't eat out much (I can cook), but I don't live in America either. I was just pointing out the nonsense about YOU being the employer.

Then YOU clearly don't understand the nature of our service industry. I am not in the industry, just a consumer, but I know well enough to know the servers aren't the ones making up the rules and I for one do not punish them. They have to deal with the public, and the public is full of arseholes.
