I hate sentimental gifts

I hate it when people give me gifts that are supposed to have some sort of sentimental value but have no practical use.

For example, I have a friend who crochets and for my birthday she made a little bag charm with a flower on that supposedly took her six weeks to make and that shit went straight in the trash. Other examples are things such as homemade cards and ornaments that have messages on them such as “best friend.”

It’s not that I want people to spend lots of money on me, chocolates or gift vouchers are perfectly acceptable to me. I just can’t stand being given this useless shit and having to pretend to be moved or touched by it.

    Eh, you people are all awful. Don't you feel good knowing you have someone who likes you enough to make you something from scratch? Even though it's usually ugly as all fuck?

    I'm lucky. The gifts my friends give me most are edible and awesome. Na-na-na-NAAA-NAAAAAA!

    To me, it really is the thought that counts, but at the same time, I do keep a lot of useless stuff around and tend to be a sentimental person.

    The fact that your friend spent six weeks making a gift for you is very sweet, I think.

    My brother once got a famed picture of Mussolini from one of his friends on his birthday. He still has that image standing for all to see.

    Seriously, the image in my head of you looking at the gift your friend made and then throwing it in the trash makes me laugh. I always get crap from my sibling or parents that sits on a shelf even though I tell them I only want gift cards. I feel your pain.

    One reason I hate gifts. My guy is an agreement with me. No holidays and no birthdays. If we wana gift each other something just do it. Theres no pressures none of that jazz. So that's pretty awesome. I'm happy about that. Gift giving is just annoying
