No matter really what it is or how much thought is put into a gift I receive it bum's me out. For what ever reason I just truly hate it. I hate that they went and wasted there money on me out of all things. It has been this way since I was very young.
Any opinions on what this may be? or why it's caused. Please comment!
Usually it annoys me because they do it for a special occasion, and not because they saw something i liked, which is really forced and fake. Also it gives this feeling that now u have to get a gift for them on their birthday or whatever.
Screw giving gifts. I only buy gifts for my younger relatives. They can't buy anything for themselves, and they truly appreciate it.
Us adults can purchase whatever we want, whenever we want. We've all probably received so many gifts in our lives that it becomes meaningless. And how often did you receive something that you didn't need or want? Probably more often than not.
Silly consumerism.

I agree. I don't like getting gifts from people. Even on my birthday or Xmas. Then you feel obligated to get them something. In the end we just spent unnecessary money on each other on stuff we coulda just got ourselves! Pointless
Maybe you feel you don't deserve it or you dong give them anything or you care about them a lot. But look at it from their point of view. They most likely love you and don't want anything in return and feel good about themselves when they give to others.
Me too, except for from one aunt who is the only person who actually bought me things that enthused me.
I don't mind the whole concept of getting a gift, if that doesn't sound spolit, but I never know how to react so the is this awfully awquard silence and I feel they think I'm unapreiciative, which is untrue :) so yeah I agree.
