I hate racial terms being used to describe society and culture

I really do not like how people these days use terms such as "white culture" to describe things like pop music and cheese and "black culture" to describe things as rap music and KFC. Reason being is because it tends to make it look like such traits are intrinsically tied to the white or black race. They are not. White people can like KFC, blacks can like Kpop, Asians can love rap, natives can love anime, etc. Fact is that most blacks in the world have never eaten KFC, yet it is tied to "blackness". I like the term "African-American culture" much better than just "black culture", and I'd prefer if people said "European American" instead of just "White American" too.

Is this normal? Don't turn the comments section into a race war or I'll start deleting things.

I don't see KFC as having anything to do with 'black culture'. It's logo is a southern, white Kentucky colonel, Colonel Sanders and developed for the white consumer. In the beginning, they were a middle class suburban chain almost exclusively. With the recent changes on the menu to less fatty and more healthy foods, they certainly are not seeking the less affluent clientele.
There are several other fried chicken chains, opened to target the less affluent market.

    • I don't see it like that either, but that's how stereotypes are at the moment.

Stereotypes. They are plentiful and very hard to break.
