I hate it when i receive "random sympathy".

Duuuude random sympathy is the worst. Like your grandma died, and your moms friend is coming up and hugging you, saying "I'm so sorry, I'm sure he was a great man." like yeah maybe he was, I don't need your random sympathy. Please. Is this normal?

  • It's not random if there's a reason. =/

Random Sympathy, it's not as random as you think. People care about you, but they lack the opportunity to let you know. I guess you could take it of a refreshing of how someone feels.

But completely random sympathy, like someone you don't really know, that might get a little strange. Even so though, people like to help others.

Though Normal, you should be happy when you get this, it's just the little things that make you who you are.

They just feel bad for you . Its basic manners to say im sorry when something bad happens to someone weather or not you knew the person . Its just manners its not random poeple are just being polite .

    Very.

One of the most uncomfortable moments of my life was when one of my teachers gave me a hug because I'd mentioned that my aunt had died. I just felt kind of dirty from that. I liked the teacher, but not the sympathy.

Even the whole "I'm so sorry" thing makes me feel awkward. Okay, so someone died. Death happens. If I like the person who died, I don't want it rubbed in. If I just don't care if they died, it's just downright awkward and unwelcome.

@weirdo - Yeah, but it's somewhat "random" coming from someone who never talks to them.
