I hate how racists are approached!!

I've noticed that when people receive a racist, they tend to be very loud, booing and getting in their face. I don't see it too much in real life because the issue doesn't come up often at all here where I am and with my friends and acquaintances, but definitely on TV (news, talk shows, documentaries) and on online forums and discussions it's pretty obvious and prevalent.

I don't think it's the right way to go about the topic!! People all getting in a guy's face, calling him names, telling him how ignorant he is, do they expect him to listen? Then come the same old, tired "words of wisdom" like: "What if your daughter marries a black man? What if a black doctor saves your life?" and so on and so forth.

I think not only does this make the person more closed off to listening, but they may also feed off the reactions they get.

I wish all people would be more tolerant, and that includes the vicious anti-racists!! Calm down, be patient and tolerant, jeesh kill 'em with kindness, it's more effective. I think making more subtle points and letting life show people that the hate isn't necessary is best.

is it normal to think the anti-racists can be just as bad as the racists and should change their approach?

I really hate when people use all the hypothetical situations to prove their point. While it sounds all very nice in theory, facts and statistics somehow play a bigger role.

Here is a real situation, I was talking to one guy about life in some neighborhood in Jerusalem and he told me it was a neighborhood that was once nice, clean and quiet became messy, full of graffiti, crime and very loud once a lot of Ethiopians moved in there. Now of course many can label this guy a racist, saying that just because they are black doesn't mean they are savages, etc... But facts speak for them selves. The facts are that many Ethiopians moved into this neighborhood, and right after that it got ruined. Does it make the man a racist if he tells the facts as they are?

Haha, good example. I think that some people have become much too sensitive regarding racism.

I lived in a neighborhood that was once very accommodating and nice until a large influx of hispanic immigrants settled into it. I could be called a racist for that observation but it's an accurate observation. Since their settlement in that neighborhood, crime rates skyrocketed. The correlation is so great that you'd have to be a fool not to realize it. There's blindly discriminating against an entire group and then there's making an observation.

Good point. Political correctness even applies when you COMPLIMENT a racial subgroup. I spoke to a Jewish radio talk show host on the air who got all upset because I said, "hey, if I'm going in for a serious operation I definitely want a Jewish surgeon. Do you find that offensive?"

"ABSOLUTELY", he roared. "And I supposed you'd turn down a black doctor because you think he might have got into medical school through some affirmative action program, huh?"

        Then he cut me off.

While I don't think that there is anything inherently wrong with being disgusted by racism, I too have noticed the interesting paradox of people preaching tolerance, yet showing blatant prejudice towards groups of people that they do not see as furthering their agenda.

Personally, I don't think that blatantly criticizing anyone (or, what you would call, getting in their face) is a good way to change anyone's mind about anything. If they're interested in the facts, then they will be open to receiving them and thus be willing to change their mind but if their beliefs are not open for discussion then the best way to approach the situation is to be a good example. Or disassociate with them. For many, their prejudice can not be directly attributed to an outside source so much as it is an internal problem, so as an outside source you'd be hard pressed to help that person.

As I said on another post, nuke them.

Seriously I think racists deserve everything they get. People are people. We're all humans. There are no race classes & for the disrespect & hate that racists show minorities, they should be treated in the same way - with hate & disrespect.

    • ......Wait, who are the "hateful" ones again? Damn, I'm confused. Regardless, I suppose we'll see just how tough you are when the Revolution comes.

Now look, asshole, I'm going to tell you what I tell all racial nihilists - if you really think that racialism is so stupid and we're all just people, please go move to a predominately Black country of your choice. Don't want to? Why not?

No, I honestly happily would. In fact, my school ran a trip to Ghana this year to go over there and help out with building things and agriculture and I put my name down but wasn't chosen.

I can't understand why you are throwing around "asshole" when I thought it was a debate. We are only putting across valid points in an argument to reach a logical conclusion, so at no point was there a need for petty name calling. :)

Thank you for your views, even though I don't think they're valid.

        • Insulting people isn't much worse than saying that people should be hated and disrespected. Read your other post here if you don't recall saying that.

Now please address my question, because I clearly wasn't talking about field trips. If you think that Blacks are just like us, then go move to Detroit. Have fun.

But I meant hating racist hate and the people who are part of it, which i accept isn't truly fair - two wrongs don't make a right - but it is my view.

Detroit is a run-down area of the USA because minorities are turned away from jobs on every corner. I don't think they have any other option than crime. No, I wouldn't live in Detroit, you're correct, but I'd happily move to another country.

I think it's fair to say that Europe has had different views from the USA on minorities for a long time. Most of the USA is catching on to the idea that there's nothing wrong with minorities other than the ill-favour they receive. It's just a shame that some of the ideas are still around.

Why the fuck should I be tolerant with a racist? I'll show my patience by not stomping them to death. I can't believe there's people on here who'll defend the scum of the earth.

A few weeks ago there was a guy defending rapists, yesterday there was a sicko on here who preys on teenage girls and people were saying it was ok; what next? Will the Aurora killer be getting kudos off people sometime this week? Jeez...

  • Anti-racists are actually much worse, and it just so happens that I know this from firsthand experience. Seriously, it's amazing to see how violently intolerant these clowns are - all the while preaching the virtues of "tolerance"!

So let me get this straight - you viciously HATE us because we generally dislike certain groups and simply want nothing to do with them.
Let me get this straight - you hate what we say, and to show everyone how wrong we are, you simply censor us whenever you get the chance.
Let me get this straight - we're proud of who we are and wish to preserve it, and for that, you want to kill us.

Now wait......who are the "intolerant" ones again?

Well anyway, well said and I agree entirely.

I've never seen racism in my life, I think people will say it on the internet to troll and get a responce out of people and when you get angry they got cha you got all mad looks like i win >_> That's the game their playing your both pathetic.

It's like going after haters they do it because their life sucks and want to get out some frustration on the internet that's all it is.

If you know that it's wrong but are still racist, you aren't ignorant.

A person isn't smarter or less ignorant because they aren't racist, if anything they're just a follower. I saved a white girl from being raped by four black teens once, fuck blacks.

Question is: Is it intolerant to be intolerant of the intolerant?

This goes for anything, racism, homophobia, feminism, chauvinism, etc.

If you are preaching tolerance is it intolerant that you do not tolerate those whose opinions differ from yours? The answer is yes.

I guess we all just have to agree to disagree.

I don't think the anti racists are as bad as the racists but in the situation you described their tactics are not efficient.

I agree with neuro and nightmares comments too.
