Instead of just writing ok they write mkay(: it's so annoying! Why can't they just write it normally?? Anybody else hate it when people do this?

Personally I do not text because of the piss poor grammar. I guess the best method is to ignore the message until they learn how to use appropriate grammar.
thety do it to add personality to their message, so that they dont sound like a robot
I know the use of their hyperbole is so grotesque I wouldn't gratify them with response.
