I hate compliments

Yeah, I hate compliments. 8 times out of 10 I think they're 1. not genuine and 2. come from somebody that wants something from me. Its just ass kissing, unless a compliment comes from a real friend, you know, your close friends only.

Like don't tell me I'm pretty. Don't tell me you like my hair. Don't tell how great my clothes look. Stop commenting about how much you like my portfolio.

Compliments from ass kissers are the worst! I think, get out, lol! Just leave. There's the door. Sorry, I never get the smart ass kissers that would be of benefit, lol. I'm not looking for minions. There's 'normal' friendly, then there's awkward. Lay off compliments. I hate them.

Or, its the faux compliments that come from catty haters that are sooo full of lies. In public its the fake hugs and well wishing. But, as soon as these haters leave, they are planning coups and back-stabbings.

Anyhoo, I'd rather be with people that don't do compliments. Its annoying.

So, we should all just be giant dicks? Okay. Not all compliments are so one sided. Sometimes, people just say nice things.

I don't know a better motivator for an employee (that isn't getting a raise) than a compliment.
I'm not the kind to give a disingenuous (great word Tayler, thanks) compliment, a but an earned compliment for something well done should always be noticed and given.
Don't ask me if your ass looks fat in that dress or if I like some outfit if you don't want my honest opinion.

    • Thank you. :)

I agree compliments go far in the work place.

    I can sort of relate.
    As a woman if a stranger (male) gives me a shallow compliment the scenario is more often than not this;
    "Hey nice hair"
    "thanks"
    "Can I get your phone-number?"

Usually people want the conversation to go somewhere besides truly just wishing to give a compliment.

I was at a gas station a few years ago and this weirdo says, "has anyone ever told you that you're beautiful", so I said, "yes". That comment reeked of cheesy pick up line.

You can sniff them out from miles away -_-´
I am not, nor will I ever be, obligated to respond or be grateful for people complimenting me.

I know! It's so annoying. Once, I sincerely gave someone a compliment. I said, "I like your earrings! They're beautiful!" Then, the girl said, "I like yours too!" I'm guessing it was just a natural reflex, because I wasn't even wearing earrings!

Oh well pardon me, you have a portfolio. You must be very important with such nice clothes and beautiful hair. You seem pretty stuck up if you ask me.

But have you ever felt like telling someone that they are pretty etc.? Maybe you didn't do it, but haven't you ever felt like telling someone something like that?

I'm guessing the reason people plan coups behind your back is because they find you rude and unpleasant.

  • It isn't really fair to say all comments are disingenuous. If I think someone looks good or I like something they are wearing I will tell them even if it is a stranger. Because I truly mean it.

Portfolio, huh? You sound like a model. If you're a model type I'm afraid you'll just have to get used to it and not let the brown nosers get to your head or influence you.

It sounds like you're surrounded by whole bunch of superficial people who judge you by your looks alone. That would be frustrating! But if it bothers you as much as it seems to, you might want to consider finding different people to surround yourself with.
